Tonight was the first Wednesday so we had both Gaming Club and the arcade was open. We had 15 kids at the gaming club and 37 people at the arcade! Sadly my PS4 Pro bit the dust at the Gaming Club…
It’s Spring Break this week so attendance was lower than usual, but it was a lot of fun and it was nice to have something for those kids that didn’t “do” anything this week…
After having DJ Boy in the arcade a couple months ago, I decided that it might be interesting to have a cheap crappy game in the arcade for one month. I always remember seeing a few games that were really lame in arcades back in the day. I figure that after I run a crappy game for a month, I will throw it up for trade and get something different. See if I can’t get a “Dance of the lemons” kinda thing going. I just made a deal for Street Smart and it is en route to start things off…
Wednesday was my after school Gaming Club. They decided on the next tournament…Undernight In-Birth! They have been playing it on the PS4, but for the tournament I will bring in my RingEdge II and some PS4 arcade fight sticks to do this up properly! Next week is the tournament…
Tomorrow is Gaming Club and Arcade Night. This is the last Arcade Night of the season until the next school year starts because my baby is being induced at the end of the month!
Got a couple things in the mail for tomorrow. Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 1 & 2 Remastered for the Gaming Club and long legs for my Capcom IO to mount over the Naomi and save some space and tidy things up in the Blast City! I had Tony Hawk downloaded on my PS4, but my system died a few months back during the club fun. They’ve been asking to play it again for a while now. Now they can!
A few months back when my PS4 Pro had died during Gaming Club a couple of game shops over on the coast reached out to me and wanted to make a donation to help me out. The result was incredible! I’m about 5.5 hours from the Pacific coast so I got some really nice packages in the mail. In total, they donated to me completely free of charge 2 PlayStation 4 consoles, 2 Xbox One consoles, and 2 Nintendo Switch consoles!
I decided to bring in an old Windows XP lappy to offer some classic PC gaming to the Gaming Club today. I couldn’t find my StarCraft, WarCraft, or Command & Conquer, and Diablo is rated M so they get to check out my favorite school game from back in the day…Oregon Trail!!!
Today was gaming club and I brought in the PSVR setup that we will use for our last tournament of the school year next week. They will be doing time trials for Gran Turismo Sport. They had a blast since it was everyone’s (save one) first experience with VR racing. We will be bringing in a racing cockpit next week to really make it a fun day.
I attended the school board meeting today to formally ask the school to fund an eSports team for the next school year. They were very receptive. I have a meeting with the Washington State Scholastic Esoprts Association in the next week to iron out the details. After that meeting, I will submit a write up to the district office for it to be voted on at the next board meeting.
At the board meeting I met someone who enjoyed hearing about the arcade and gaming club and summer tournaments that I run and wanted to make a contribution…she wrote a check out right there! Crazy day today was!
