Well, at least the translation of the second page/part of the Japanese article is still to be revealed, right? :)

Well, you know:

yes indeed I have the additional page from the article which also contains many more screenshots and alot more information (some pics never before seen) and yet AGAIN I would be willing to send the file out to be translated. But if your willing to translate this second page, simply say so here in this thread, email me your email address, and I will send the file to you tonight.

I could translate the second page over the weekend. Just send it to me: sk1d/at/excite.co.jp

Yet still nothing about this, right?

My girlfriend's mum is a japanese teacher. If she's not too busy, she should be able to take a look.

I can ask her to translate it if needed. Has it been done?

I'll email Billy, but if anyone has the file, let me know.

Ok - from Billy Pitt's page, the "contact me" button goes to Chad Okada's email.

I have emailed him.

Yes, thanks for letting me know.

Back in February I was contacted privately by someone from Japan in regards to this and they were very helpfull. Here is most of what they sent to me:

Hi!

Thank you for sending the article. I already translated more than half of the page but don't feel like finishing it right now. Also I did not want to bump the thread again, so I am just sending it to you this time. I guess that the most important part is the one about the location test. Judging from this the game was pretty much finished and the existence of a PCB or MVS cart is quite likely.

The latter half is just about the game characters and not very interesting. Maybe I will finish it next week and send the complete translation to you.

Have fun!

--- START PAGE 2 ---

# This game is an orthodox action game but its selling point is that

small characters bring down huge and strong enemies. There are also a

lot of special techniques and other flashy stuff but for example it can

be controlled using only one button and I hope that not only game

enthusiasts but a large group will be playing it. Of course it does also

feature a two player coop mode.

- How many special attacks does each character have?

# We prepared 12 kinds of special attacks per character. Each of those

makes use of the fighter's characteristics. You can also expect some

[polished] graphics.

_With the release set for autumn there's something to wait for!_

- When will it possibly appear in game centers?

# Right now "Karate Ninja Sho" is on location test and we are fixing

some details. Next will be to [straighten] it a little more and we are

planning to release it in autumn, so please wait just a bit.

- Let me ask you about Yumekobo's next developments.

# As I already said in the part about the company we are putting all our

efforts into "Karate Ninja Sho". After that we will concentrate on

porting SNK software for the Neo Geo to PS and Saturn although we don't

have a particular title in mind yet. But of course we will also be

developing original titles.

- What message do you have for our readers?

# We will now start making games for the Neo Geo and want to develop the

production of new and fun games. Please support Yumekobo, the company

that makes dreams.

_Very unique main characters - The 4 Karate Ninja_

- Before, you kindly explained the basics of the story. Now, please tell

us more about the 4 main characters.

# This time each appearing main character is accompanied by a protecting god/spirit. This also defines the fighter's character.

Sho has a blue dragon and is balanced both in attack power and speed.

(...)

traps in each stage, some of them can also be used to the advantage of the fighter

10 different endings

(...)

I simply can't fathom why a company would pull the plug in the last steps of a game. I can understand if the game gets scrapped a few months into development, but why after it was location tested? From the sounds of it Yumekebo dumped a lot of resources into this game
As I already said in the part about the company we are putting all our efforts into "Karate Ninja Sho"
I just makes no sence to me why they would develop for probably 6 or months or more on a project just to dump it down the drain.....

Maybe the game was absolutely terrible? We'll never know for sure i suppose.

Not only that, that game was the 'debut' of a company which has been producing other games after that, so we know for sure they do not simply disappeared before the supposed release of their first title.

well from the description - the amount of characters/specials/endings - amongst other things, makes this game sound really interesting. I suppose the best that can be done at this point is seek the opinion of someone who play-tested it at the time.

another one that's also similar is Kyukyoku Sentai Dadandarn/Monster Maulers

(both of these are playable in MAME, btw).
