The millenia is upon us now, and many have converged on the Denius system to greet the Diving Being. Without this God of legend, all is dark and empty. His name is Felden Crais and he knows only one way of doing things. He is neutral; neither benevolent nor malvolent, but his power is omnipotent. No one mortal being is more powerful than he. (N.Rox Review from DHGF Magazine) On a system completely overrun with fighting games, it's usually hard get excited about another one. This is not the case with Sunsoft's Galaxy Fight : Universal Warriors. This 170-meg wonder is, truly, the most amazing Neo*Geo game I have ever seen. From the hyper high-quality FMV intro to the last boss' scaling, warping and color cycling background, Galaxy Fight is total quality, and highly unorthodox : The stages have no boundaries, meaning you can advance or retreat endlessly, adding up to no corner traps and a much larger playfield for defensive players to work with. Combos come out almost effortlessly in GF (the novice player will have no difficulty whipping out five-hitters), and this is the only fighting game I know of in which two super moves can be two-in-oned into each other, making for insane, beautiful- looking combos. Galaxy Fight's most impressive trait is its art and special effects - visual effects featured in this title are so amazing that seeing them for the first time is comparable to your first encounter with Gunstar Heroes : Each level features up to five layers of parallax and amazing deep line-scrolling, while scaling in and out! Power! It ain't just the backgrounds that are a beauty, though, as Galaxy Fight's characters are animated extremely well and are very unique, not only in design but special moves. GF's music is another of its strong points : It ranges anywhere from odd ambient tracks with vague snippets of half-heard conversation, Art of Fighting-style, to raging techno and to subdued yet too-cool Japanese Samurai Shodown-esque tunes. The sound effects are nice too, but the speech is unfortunately spoken with thick Japanese accents. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- ============== GAME DETAILS ============== BUTTONS : A - Weak Attack B - Medium Attack C - Strong Attack D - Taunt There are no defined kicks or punches in this game for the buttons, the characters punch or kick when a button is pressed depending upon the situation they are in. More details are shown in each character's section. Some characters can also Air Throw, using the above method. Again, more details are shown in each characters section. O O O Double Jump - Jump, while in the air : \ or | or / * Only ROLF can double jump * On the Ground - Back Dash: O-- O-- Forward Dash: --O --O (Back Dash to stop, or do a Special move!) More Damage - When in dash mode, the effects of hits are multi- plied by 50%, and there is a greater loss of strength, even if you are defending. Auto-Chasing - In some cases, using a dashing attack will send the opponent flying and your character will auto- matically run after. INSTANT DEATH MOVE : Any character can perform an instant Death Move on their opponent. To do this, turn your characters head and move while pressing the A, B or C button. (???) Haven't a CLUE what this means!!! If anyone does, please contact me to update this FAQ with what it DOES mean! COLOR SELECTION : 2 colors are available. Player 1 is always the normal color for a character. Player 2 is always the alternate color. So whichever color you want to be, you have to play as player 1 or player 2 accordingly. CONVERT SCORE/TIMER DISPLAY (IN ONE-PLAYER MODE) : At the start of a new game, press and hold the "start" button be- fore the round begins to change the score and time displays on the screen. Do the same to change back. SPEECH SELECT (IN TWO-PLAYER MODE) : To choose the ending speech in a VS match, hold either A, B, or C buttons at the after winning the second round. A is for small, humble speech, B for regular, and C for forceful and cheer. If no button is pressed, B will play automatically. SCORING : The scoring categories are as follows : Splendid (You get this if you beat your opponent in under 15 seconds.), Numbers (I still haven't figured out what this is for.), Perfect (If you win with full life meter.), Vitality (The higher your life meter, the more points.), Narrow (If you win with nothing left on your life meter.), and Time (The more time left on the counter, the more points.). OTHER FEATURES : There are some other features also of note. There is air juggling. You can juggle your opponent in the air for a maximum of two to three hits depending on the character. If you get close, try this combo : Rapid Crush, Ducking A x3, Rolf Shot, Planet Breaker (can substitute last two for Striking Bomb). Ending : Rolf feels sorry for Felden because he abused his power and thinks he now needs a vacation, but his partner tells him of a monster in another galaxy on the rampage and he goes off to save the galaxy. Every now and then, you can get the Ninja Death Tornado off (if he's close enough), but it's a very risky move. Ending : Felden says he hasn't been beaten since Rouwe, but dissappears before Kazuma can get anything more out of him. He gather data on his opponents to pick his strengths and exploit weaknesses. The Fakir empire then comes to get him because they need him somewhere else, but Musafar destroys the messenger and vows that he will not let what happened to him happen to anyone else.
