So I have a very small collection of anime. I was wanting some help in discovering new stuff.

I like dark and bloody stuff like Berserk the most. But I also enjoy Ghost in the Shell: SAC. I just ordered Doomed Megalopolis, it looked ineresting. I know I need to check out Akira.

Any recommendations would be helpful.

Thanks!

I'll take a look at that. Thanks.

Also, anything like Fist of the North Star would be awesome. That movie is so bloody I feel all warm and tingly when I watch it.

For what it's worth I'm watching Initial D at the moment. It's basically DBZ with cars. I like it enough.

edit: Elfen Lied is alright, I liked it my first viewing, but when I rewatched it I didn't like it anywhere near as much.

edit2: Akira, yes, definitely. Maybe Hellsing too? It's pretty bloody but not too dark tbh.

edit3: FOTNS is right up your alley for sure. Maybe also Jojo's?

Have you seen any of the new FOTNS series? New Fist of North Star is the only one that I've seen, it was excellent and true to the original film/manga.

Check out some Yoshiaki Kowajiri: Ninja Scroll, Demon City Shinjuku, Vampire Hunter D 2, Biohunter, etc.

Also, Urotsukidoji is a classic 80's demon anime, some tentacle rape but awesome monster designs.

And yea, watch Akira.

Well the most disturbing thing I watched was Apocalypse Zero. I believe that's the name of it. Now that was pretty fucked up, but it mostly made me laugh.

Kemonozume, rather short, the animation gets better as the series progresses.
and Blood the last vampire.

I know you said anime, but I think these were enjoyable:

this one is good, Vagabond,
about Miyamoto Musashi.
Homunculus, about Trepanation and weird shit like that.

edit: if you're interested in japanese horror movies.... Neighbor #13 was pretty good

I don't know what the difference between anime and manga is. I'm a noob like that.
Anime = Japanese animated
Manga = Japanese comics

Most animes start their lives as manga series and in virtually all cases are much better.

I thought it was something like that. Thanks for the heads up!

Elfen Lied. If your into bloody anime with a great dramatic story than this is for you. I absolutely loved the series. Tokko is another pretty dark anime and an okay series.

Edit: I did not see anybody mention Gants or Zombie Loan either.

[Some bad-ass stuff]
Seriously, I love hearing people's opinions on animé on this forum more than anywhere else nowadays because answers like this come-about. Reminds me of an age where SF and bloodshed were more common in the (America-distributed) genre than cross-dressing male protagonists and the whole moé-culture crap. :oh_no: Thanks, Merc.
