Since this is the place for Tate'in I wanted to ask a question here. I asked one of the "Computer Specialists" at Best Buy if they had the thing to rotate a monitor, and of course, the guy looked at me like I had a penises growing out of my ears. So I'll ask here. I have a Samsung Syncmaster 906 BW and I want to know where I can go online to buy the arm to hold it in. Now all I need is a new S-Video cable for my 360 and I'll be in business.

Perhaps this will work for your display? It's what I'm using on my 19" display.

Does that one rotate in both counterclockwise and clockwise? I'm in the market for a non-desk clamped based rotating mount for 2 spare 24" monitors I just got sitting around unused. Also does it have enough clearance at it max adjusted height for most 22/24 inchers?

On a side note, scored a really good deal on a Panasonic Viera 37" last week... gonna be my main, non arcade cab/crt tate setup when it arrives. :buttrock: Also got a spare unused standalone DVDO video processor for re-scaling/deinterlacing old skool stuff just chillin in the closet.... it's all comin together... hehe

"Technically" it can rotate either way depending on how you have it initially installed, but once it's installed, it can only rotate in that one direction. I have mine going Counter-clockwise.

IF you check the pic I posted you'll see that stand being utilized on a 24". I love it I have 2 of them and the other is used on a smaller screen for my DC and stuff.
So I was playing around with the monitor and it does actually have the standard mount. I went out to Staples and bought the rotating stand for $50. Totally worth it. The only problem was that the AL2216W's stock stand is a pain in the ass to remove. I finally got it off though. I'll post some pics when my camera's batteries are charged.
Glad you got it going brother, those 3M stands are pretty sweet!

Most Staples carry the 3m rotating stand. Just do a store availability search to locate one. I plan on picking one up asap for my pc monitor.

My neo flex ergotrons came in the mail today. Installed them on a pair of 24 inchers I had sitting around in the storage room doing nothing. Thanks for the heads up on these! They're quite nice and super price too! Since they don't do full 360 degree rotation, I mounted each monitor differently so that one monitor can be used for clockwise and the other can be used for "simulated" counter-clockwise rotation.

Also my Panny 37" HDTV came in last Friday. This TV is gonna be my dedicated TATE setup.... that is, unless I get an even bigger one. :lolz:

Size comparison vs the 24s below. Now trying to decide which stand or mount to go for on this guy.

nice setup, but are you stretching the image, that's illegal in most countries!

i've been experimenting with a new setup because I wanted more size. The crt was purchased so that my low res games would look ok but was a compromise on size. Most 360 games don't really need low res, the exclusion being the RFA package. While the CRT is adequate I thought that newer games could take advantage of more screen space. Here is what I have been experimenting with. Not 100% sure if this is final. the megacool1080p does not work with this TV unfortunately so Mushi and ibara PS2 don't look as awesome as they could. Galuda, Dragonblaze and DDP DOJ look really good though :) Of course 360 games look AMAZING. I'm happy camper.

That's right.... I'm a stretcher, haha! Yeah I know some people find it blasphemous, but f'em. I like it better that way and they ain't the ones playing it. :lolz: Black bars just irk me so much.... If I must be pixel perfect on the older games, I'll play on my CRT pvm or on my vert cabs.

THere is a streching method where all the pixels remain unlatered meaning that the streching ratio will be completely uniform pixel per pixel, in other words you won't be having uneven intervals of streching. If you know a thing or two about mame the best thing to use with a semi-decent video card would be Direct 3D and 2 bitmap prescaling so everyhitng remians unaltered.

Streching is illegal you say? More like black bars should be erradicated from the face of the earth.

I see you removed the bracket, good man. I think Stealth should follow suit as well.

I just set the output resolution on mame to the native res of the tv. The mode you're talking about is "enforce aspect ratio". I used that on my Gateway 27" CRT VGA monitor and it looked perfect. But using that mode on a widescreen still renders black bars.

I'm not taking off the tv stand until my vert stand arrives. Plus, I'm not gonna use that tv til then.... so I''m just leaving it unused on it's stand in the storage room. That pic was just a test run. Ain't no way I'm gonna play all ghetto like that. :lolz:

as much as I agree banning black bars, have you ever noticed when playing it on stretch for a bit, then go 4x3 the speed seems off? I noticed it happen the other way around for me so I stick to the default.

a 16x9 vert would be cool right now ;)

I'm thinking that timing or lag is due to what exactly is doing the stretching. Meaning if it's the TV itself or a little converter box... then that's probably the problem. Most tv's have crappy de-interlacing/re-scaling circuitry. Having high end electronics for that aspect is "very expensive" and would probably drive up the total hdtv cost greatly. Brand new stand alone video processors can cost in the range of a few hundred to a few thousand dollars. However, higher end Pioneer and Runco brand ($20k for a 50" Runco plasma!) HDTVs have really good de-interlacers/scalers.

Running on a fairly beefy pc outputting the NATIVE resolution to the display and via a good video processor, there should be no noticeable lag/timing issues for most sources. I think the key is to supply the tv/monitor with it's native resolution and whatever is doing the processing... that it be fast.

Also have you tried to use the "game mode" (if available) on your hdtv? Those modes are supposed to cut corners on quality of de-interlacing/re-scaling in order to shorten processing times.

a 16x9 vert would be cool right now ;)

I'm totally with you on this one. Right now there's Omega Five on xbox 360... pretty nice, reminds me of forgotten worlds. Also the R-Type remake (Dimensions?) is kinda cool. Absolutely hated Soldner-X... bought it/pre-ordered for PC on initial release.. then when it was announced for PSN, I hoped they fixed some issues.... NOPE they didn't. Raystorm HD sounds promising though.

Of course the speed will be affected, the horizontal speed would be naturally much faster than the vertical speed, but that also applies to bullets so in a sense you are still playing under fair rules.

Stealth, no, just no borther. Enforce aspect ratio would do what you just said, I wish I could get into details and explain to you how excetly to get everything right on track but in truth I'm too lazy to walk you thorugh with it. Do not think even for a second that I do not know what I'm talking about, I am way far pickier than you when it comes to this type of thing. I have experimented with this quite a bit and when I say that you can strech things and still get a perfect uniform pixel count I mean it.

I know you are a baller and all, but friend, you must try harder if you want to get what you want out of MAME. Do not belittle me by putting my comment in question, I know excatly what I'm talking about. Didn't I shared that info about the stands wit everyone? What? Did you really think I just merely ran into it, nah bud, I research things, when I say something is doable or recommend something it is 'cause that's the best possible way of doing things.

I am not wrong on this, trust me.

Fair enough man, didn't mean to come off as condescending jackass there. Feel free to give me a wake up call anytime. :lolz:

Here's my recent setup, which is actually behind the counter in the back room of the gaming shop opening soon. It's a 22.5 widescreen LCD mounted using a top mounted Neo-Flex Ergotron Arm.

Tell me more about this shop :vik: Worth coming down from Boston?

Pic of the new setup. Gonna take some better ones tonight when I get home from work, but I figured I would post this up as a preview.

37" Samsung on a Sanus full motion mount.

Dammit. I got one of those cheap ergotrons only to realize that LG decided to place the vesa mounts on the top of the monitor....so the center of gravity screws up portrait view.

So they work on 24" monitors eh? I was looking at THIS because I thought the Neo Flex units didn't support 24" screens.
