Hi folks.

I haven't had the chance to play the game yet (hope i can do it this weekend) but i think we should clarify some more details to even the friendly competition:

We should define what game mode should be used (Combat; IR; etc.) because i'm not sure if there are significant differences in them, maybe someone can clarify... I assume "Combat" is standard.

And most definitely, especially for people using MAME, you must restrain from using Korean version because the default settings give you 5 bombs instead of 3.

good to know. i actually might be using korean version cuz i believe i start w 5 bombs. oh well im literally the worst player anyway heh.

Combat is standard mode

the IR mode (internet rank) from what i can tell is prob what we should be using as it was the official form of what we are doing now , but it forces the plAyer to use Energy instead of Bombs which isnt quite as fun

Good idea! Combat is standard and from what I’ve seen has been required on the shmups forum before. You can still pick energy mode bombing on combat though I think?

My score was using World version (5 bombs same as Korea, same in all regions except Japan) and since we’re all scrubs here I’d say we make that the default or setup a separate JP scoreboard. I’m game either way though if we want to do strict JP rules

I think that in the past, i burned a new eprom for a more recent game revision that allowed you to use button 4 to change the "ship type" on the fly. To be more specific, it changes the "shooting type" or something like that because the ship sprite obviously remains the same.

Just checked and my cart is "Hong Kong" and only has 3 bombs. Another big difference is that this version seems to be considerably less generous in terms of bombs, you don't have the "bomb fest" on stage 2 and some enemies that usually drop bombs (like those small robots) give absolutely nothing.

Is there any way to region swap these PGM carts? My DDP2 comes up as "Taiwan" it'd be nice if I could get an English title screen and mode selection. Some games (Martial Masters and KOV2ND) can have the 68k rom patched to disregard the region the ARM chip dictates and force another region (e.g...

I usually just do the v102 upgrade, but it looks like this is just a small patch to that ROM. If you really want I can probably burn ya one.
