Wish You Were Here is a masterpiece but also the single most depressing record ever. It should legit have a warning label on it. The content, the context, the chords, all a masterclass in max downer.
Yeah its great. It also has one of my favorite cover artwoks ever.

Not an original (has bar code) but doesn’t have any other obvious identifying aspects. I think this is post 2000. I got it about ten years ago used. Sound is VERY good.

The freddy album is way more awesome than it is supposed to be.

I once picked up a copy of that and the Mecco Star Wars Christmas (with a teen Jon Bonjovi) at the same yardsale.

Do the Freddy is fantastic, but the rest of the album doesn't hold up as well for me. Too inconsistent. Still, like you say, it's probably better than it has any right to be.

If I could find a disc only "Do the Freddy" in the wild, it would go right into my seeburg library unit.

I need to get a FLAC of this or something so I can be mobile while it plays me though my journies.

Amazing atmospheres…it’s midnight so all the TV stations are shut down. I’m trying to keep cool on the fire escape…waiting…for a call…some shit like that.

The best one, IMO, both for punters and the hardcore. It has the best actual song craft compared to other albums and without all the bloat to murk it. It has no Wakeman and you know what? Good. They never mixed the synths right on any Yes album with Wakeman, IMHO, I’d rather hear him solo. Meanwhile the piano and organ totally jam on this thing, right up front, awesome shit. And the bass…so creamy, also better than any other Yes album, IMO. Occasionally you even find females who can sing these songs with you, good luck trying that with Relayer…

This is some semi recent 180g pressing, not the Steven Wilson version. I have no issue with it whatsoever. Fantastic quality all around.

Something seems to be drifting in the phono stage of my Marantz 2230, mids are harsher than they used to be, the bass and treble reduced, not terrible but noticeable since I know this receiver very well. It’s probably the 49 year old capacitors finally letting go…I’ll look into it eventually, in a year or two. In the meanwhile I decided to bypass the problem with the Audio Technica AT-PEQ30 which I have to say is pretty nice. The sound is back to normal basically but separation/imaging is better than ever, I’m pretty sure. For a not cheap but not $$$ unit I recommend it.

Remember when you first heard The Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld and your friend explained how it was all sprung from Jimmy Cauty years before but then later you discovered Brian Eno did it all in 70s?

Johnny Come Lately, all of them. Behold, Neighborhoods by Ernest Hood. Not only is this a ambient/chill out album released before nearly all others, it seems to have been self produced pretty much in a vacuum and with no modern samplers or synths, not even the ones modern to 1975.

I can’t recommend this album enough for fans of the genre, not only for its significance but also for its overall quality. It’s like Mr Rogers versus The KLF. 10/10.

The one I have is the 2019 reissue. Attached is the hype sheet, which is fascinating in itself. 5FB6B487-5F76-4996-BD65-ECECA5FE93B2.jpegDF2B0739-BA5B-4D8F-9247-3313D8BA33A9.jpeg

Been buying breaks and soul/funk 45s. Been sampling for years and making music with a akai mpc. I use a technics 1200 to play and sample. Just got a discogs account as the record stores around this area seem to be picked clean lately.
