I’m really enjoying this season, especially the Hopper badassery. Watching episode 4 right now and I think it’s my favorite so far this season.

Love the Victor Creer reveal since he’s the inspiration for the season.

Episodes are a little too long that’s for sure.

Spoiler:
making Max into protag 1B
works really well especially given how much more relatable her character is and has always been.

Yeah I agree, I told my friend that today too when we watched the first episode since he hadn’t seen any of it yet, the season seemed to be centered around that and it does work well.

On the second to last episode now, not sure Ill finish the season tonight.

Who is Rex?

I'd say he can skip it. Season 3 it gets really campy, and it's a bit of nostalgic fan service. I liked it though.

The Steve and Dustin duo from S3 was great.
It just felt like in season 2, they had already devolved into going through the motions. Felt almost like a direct repeat of the first season except with worse screenwriting and now relying only on the '80s nostalgia porn to carry it.

One of the major original characters from Clone Wars. Captain and later commander of Anakin Skywalker's clone battalions, mentor of Ahsoka Tano. The grizzled old clone that pops up to help the Bad Batch every now and again. Also becomes a significant character on Rebels.

Agreed that season 2 felt like a repeat, a Shitty “Return to” sequel. Season 3 goes in a new direction, but it’s campy and nostalgia fueled. Or rather it’s a fueled by a perception of what the 80s was that probably isn’t altogether true. I don’t know though I was a child then.

That said I liked it. Still thought it was cute, even if the basic premise was ridiculous.

Finished part 1 of Stranger Things 4. Thoughts...

Spoiler:
I was sure Steve was dead in ye ol' Upside Down after the whole cheesecake/Nancywantsthedong shots. Then I assumed ms. voyeur Nance would be snacks while she watched, well, everything. One of the two, probably both, is dead in the July episodes.

Dustin and Robin are still the best characters by a lot.

What fucking Christian/Tolkien universe does Dusty Bun's girlfriend live in? Utterly dumb fucking writing, editors do your job next time and save the viewers some of the march to inevitable retardation. For real, those scenes were incredibly stupid.

The way they handled Hopper/Joyce/Russian impersonator was also so, so bad. I'm guessing Hopper and Joyce are both going to play heavily into defeating 001 and/or whoever shows up in 5, but jeeesh, that was a bad way to get there. Dumb.

Finally... okay, I like the idea overall. 011 isn't Eleven, she's 1-Prime, and she's the only thing that can beat the former. Steve's gonna die, Nancy's gonna die, one (or more!) or the younger group is going to die, but... man, way to drag that shit out.

001 seems like a deserving final boss-type guy, I'm hoping he squishes most of the crew in July and then leaves, I dunno, 011, Dustin, Max, Robin, Eddie, and (totes obvs) Erika to fight him in the final season.

edit: I'm assuming 011 somehow created the Upside Down and that 001 then got there and started fucking shit up soon after? That's one plot thread that the Duffers have done a solid job of not spoiling.

edit 2, FO REAL this time... 'kay, this is what I think is really going to happen. The reference to time travel is key here that I think it was Nancy made when her guns were gone, means time travel can happen between real world and upside down (why am I putting so much thought into this someone kindly commit me). I think that 001 has started a chain of events that lead to the end of the world, in general, but also that somehow the intrepid team of Modine/Reiser have gotten a splinter of it off at one point and managed to try to get other versions of the timeline to work. 001 kills everyone, every time, unless they can get to 011, re-train her, and get her and Scooby Gang to kill 001. Sort of like Avengers Endgame yet with a somehow even longer prelude. Upside Down is where they can exit and/or re-enter time.

I've been really enjoying the new season of Raised by Wolves. I took me a while to get around to watching it, but when I, I ended up watching the lot in one weekend :D

I'm watching Stranger Things Season 4 now, so far loving it. I'm on 1 episode a week though as I'm watching with my partner.

Pistols- FX series about The Sex Pistols directed by Danny Boyle. 4 episodes in and it's not terrible so far. I'm glad they're being fairly truthful about how the band was essentially manufactured by Malcolm McLaren after he fucked up The NY Dolls. Also pretty truthful in how little talent they actually had. Though it is a bit odd that they're acting as if SP were literally the first punk band.

This show just feels like they made it up as they go along. It started out as an interesting premise, ended up as some bullshit adam and eve retelling, and then in season 2 they kinda brought it back to sci-fi, but not really what with the Snake Tree and Merpeople.

I dunno. I think I'll skip season 3 next year. It felt kinda how Season 2 and 3 of Westworld went.

Unfortunately, that is a narrative that has been pushed so hard for decades that it's pretty much believed as fact by the general public at this point.

They do at least bring up The Stooges.

I'm hoping they'll get to the fact that literally everyone that saw their early shows immediately formed far superior bands. That's really the only good thing they did.

I thought it was good, but in regards to Westworld, Season 01 was amazing and then definitely went in a direction I didn't much enjoy. Will probably still watch the new season though :)

Finished Pistol, it was meh overall. They really sped through the second half of the bands "career" there at the end there, wtf was that?. I wouldn't go out of your way to watch it.

Episode 6 of Stranger Things- It really seems like for every legitimately cool thing in the show they counter it with something equally as stupid. The little girl hacker, all the nonsense in her house and the jock at the town hall meeting were all fucking awful.

Some of the antics are straight out of 80's movies, so yeah, the hacker girl and the Soviet stuff is over the top. Goonies level stuff.

Saw an ad for a new Jeff Bridges new series. Looked in the vein of Bourne/Equalizer with lots of stupid action. I think it’s on Hulu in 2 weeks.

Boys S3 Ep1 - listen, I like the ultra violence, I do. But in this episode, right off the bat (and throughout) it just feels like the violence is shocking for the sake of being shocking. It’s really grotesque but in a manner that serves no point to the plot. Maybe that’s how the series has always been? I dunno. Maybe I’m getting old.

Interested to see where the story goes.

Strong endings for Under the Banner of Heaven and We Own This City both. Latter got me reading up on Sean Suiter, man, that's... rough.

You're a trooper for sticking it out that long. I watched one episode and that was more than enough.

Crom bless you. You don't need to watch season 2.

Though I'll pray to any deity I need to that there is no second season.

I can only imagine how bad this show is. I feel I've received secondary trauma just from your descriptions of the episodes.

Eh, I was going to watch the show anyway since I like. If ever episode was series of scenes as senseless as the shit in episode one, I'd bounce.
