True, but, no Anakin would have wide-reaching ramifications for the Star Wars canon. Maybe Obi-Wan takes a different Padawan that sees through Palatine's shit and kills him. Maybe Dooku would turn on Palpatine and kill him or they kill each other, and Darth Maul returns. Things wouldn't necessarily follow the same path as the current canon with no Anakin or Darth Vader.

Dooku would have turned on the Emperor. Vader would never have were it not for Luke.

Dooku was in fact already in the process of betraying the Emperor by the time Episode III takes place. Because Anakin was stronger he had him execute and replace Dooku, but if Dooku had defeated Anakin in that duel then Palpatine would've beaten Dooku back into place as he had done previously in Clone Wars.

And Vader had tried to betray the Emperor multiple times in multiple mediums, including Empire Strikes Back when he tries to get Luke to become his apprentice and overthrow the Emperor together. Every time it happened the Emperor basically beat the shit out of Vader until he got back in line.

Sith apprentices literally always betray their masters. It's a central tenet of the Sith religion. It's the only way you can get a new Sith master. They either succeed and supplant the master, are beaten back into subservience, or they're killed and replaced.

Sorry, to be clear I meant without Vader being aware of his force sensitive son then I don’t believe he would have ever betrayed or even attempted to betray the emperor.

He did, though.

He did, though.

Yes…?

Vader hates himself more than he hates the emperor or even wants power. Luke provides a means to “right the wrongs” of losing Padme, etc.

I think Vader differs from other Sith Lords in that respect. You have 20+ years of unerring loyalty.

Without a means to resolve his own personal issues Vader would serve the emperor until the end.

No, he literally tried to betray the Emperor more than once before he knew about Luke.

He had multiple plots against the Emperor in the canon comics including one where he tried to recruit the Hutts, and he tried to recruit Ahsoka in Rebels.

Fan fiction, you mean.
Your idea that Vader somehow wasn't "all the way Sith" while serving the Empire is more fanfiction than anything. He's fully gone as Anakin until Luke reawakens that part of him. He became a Sith Lord with everything that entails. If he thought at any point he had the advantage over the Emperor he'd have killed him. and if that weren't the case the Emperor wouldn't want him as apprentice to begin with.

Sure, we just don’t see that in the films.

The problem with all this extra material is just like it was with the Obi-Wan show. People write “prequel” stories that are at worst wildly inconsistent with previously established characters and storylines and sometimes at best don’t make sense or are not consistent with how we see characters in the established films portrayed.

As far as fan fiction status goes Disney has established they, at a whim, can change whatever is canon hence my assertion that what we see in the films holds more weight than anything else.

We’re absolutely in comic book land where Disney will retcon when convenient.

Look at Grand Admiral Thrawn. They took one of the best characters from the most critically lauded SW book series and just dropped him in the new timeline after asserting his version as seen in the Thrawn trilogy was no longer canon.

I also don’t like the prequels very much, there is some good and a lot more bad. I know you like the good stories that others have told from the prequels (Clone Wars, etc) but for me no matter how good they are the source is still tainted.

The sequels are next level abominable.

Therefore, since the world has still
Much good, but much less good than ill,
And while the sun and moon endure
Luck's a chance, but trouble's sure,
I'd face it as a wise man would,
And train for ill and not for good.

The Force Awakens was competent but pointless. The Last Jedi had a point but was incompetent. In Rise of Skywalker they got the perfect synthesis of pointless incompetence.
I don't even think Force Awakens was competent. It's just a horrible remake of A New Hope.

It just seems competent in comparison to the prequels and the two that followed it, but that's because those movies are so ridiculously bad.

Man, remember that whole part with Rose and Finn on the casino planet and how bad and utterly inconsequential to the plot of the last Jedi it was?

The fuck was that shit.

Also that space ship chase - is that where Disney’s seeming love of slow chases came from?

The slow chase thing is really weird.

They went from ultra fast overly elaborate nausea inducing sequences in the prequels that were made just to show off the horrible CGI to the total opposite. It's like those scenes in B movies from the 70s and 80s where people overact behind the wheel and when you look out the window they get passed by a guy on a bike.

While writing a Jango Fett toy review today, I realized that Episode II: Attack of the Clones came out about 20 years ago, in 2002. It just doesn't seem like it was THAT long ago...😳

Yep, came out in late spring - I think May. I was a senior in high school and I think the seniors had already been let out for the year. Me, my buds, and a few other nerds waited in line for the box office to open to buy tickets.

I'm not sure why we did other than it was a fun thing to do. It was still the time of packed midnight film releases and buying physical games at their midnight release/launch party and then racing home to play with friends.

We knew Ep 1 had pretty much sucked. I remember liking the second one a lot better at the time than the first, however, I still think Jango Felt is just a really cheap, bankrupt idea. It was nothing more than a way to get the cool Boba Fest on screen in the prequels. Just pandering to an audience who thinks they know what they want.

George, you went too far.

The 2nd LotR movie also came out in 2002.

Jango is kind of meh, but he is vital to the storyline, since he's the clone army's DNA template.

Since Lucas invented a reason that he could shoehorn a Boba Fett analog in to the prequels, yes.

I don't think the lore turned out too bad, but lets not kid ourselves. Jango only exists because of the allure and mystique of Boba.

Mando season 3 and Ahsoka trailers were leaked. Far as I know they are only cellphone video, but... yeah.

Anyone who is a fan of Ahsoka/Clone Wars, and more specifically Rebels... yes. Very yes.
