All this guaranteed money is going to put a ton of pressure on NFL and NBA owners with low cash flow.

When you sign someone to a guaranteed deal like that you have to put the full value of the contract into escrow for its duration. Small time owners can't necessarily set aside 300 million bucks for several years for one guy.

You'll be begging him not to shoot six weeks in to the season.
The only time he'll be shooting is when Jokic throws him the ball, and Jokic will only throw it to him when he's open.

75% of the time the offense is running through Jokic and the other 25% will be Jamal Murray setting up the PNR. KCP is here to catch and shoot, which Will Barton was never great at. Barton needs the ball in his hands to create his shot which makes him a poor match for Jokic.

Nuggets playoff roster from last year (minus the two way players and the injured players)
C: Nikola Jokic, DeMarcus Cousins, Zeke Nnaji
PF: Jeff Green, JaMychal Green, Vlatko Cancar
SF: Aaron Gordon, Austin Rivers
SG: Will Barton, Bryn Forbes
PG: Monte Morris, Bones Hyland, Facundo Campazzo

Nuggets roster this season with one two way spot to fill
C: Nikola Jokic, Zeke Nnaji, DeAndre Jordan
PF: Aaron Gordon, Jeff Green, Vlatko Cancar
SF: Michael Porter, Jr., Davon Reed, Peyton Watson (rookie)
SG: Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Bruce Brown, Christian Braun (rookie)
PG: Jamal Murray, Bones Hyland, Ish Smith, Collin Gillespie (rookie; two-way)

Losing Cousins could hurt but otherwise this team is drastically improved. Much better three point shooting, much better perimeter defense, much more depth across the 1-3 positions.

And, best of all, no Facundo Campazzo. Just him not playing is at least 5 extra regular season wins and that's not even an exaggeration.

The pick from Detroit is probably the best one. I'm fine with this trade if they keep RJ. Don't think the Knicks will trade him.
Would also prefer if Toppin & Quickley stay here.

How is Jeff Green still in the league? I thought he was washed up when he was with the Celtics and that was what 7 years ago?

Ayton signed an offer sheet with the Pacers and the Suns matched it in 90 seconds. 133mil for 4 years. He's staying a Sun. Untradable for the first have of next season, and a no-trade clause for a year.

Whether that will be long term, or they end up trading him midway through the next season is way up in the air.

He freaking started last season for the Nuggets. That's how awful that squad Jokic won 48 games with was last year. Jeff Green started and Facundo Campazzo played 65 games.

Ayton should demand a trade immediately anyway

Jack White gets the final two way spot for the Nuggets. Roster is now full

My guess is they'll try out several options for 2C and if none work, they'll make a trade at the deadline. They have some movable expiring vet contracts (Green, Smith, Jordan) and the Nugs' owners won 3 titles this year by making trades at the deadline (Rams traded for Von Miller and won the Super Bowl, Mammoth traded for Gibson and Joaqium and won the NLL Championship, Avalanche traded for Manson, Cogliano, Sturm, and Lehkonen and then won the Stanley Cup on a Lehkonen goal).

Yes they had Kenny Atkinson and a good young team that just made the play offs. Atkinson is a great coach to develop young talent. Now he assists Steve Kerr. Durant will probably demand a new owner next.

Assuming this is true, this is just kicking and screaming to force a trade. It's all posturing. He wants to play for the Suns. The longer this goes on, the less leverage the Nets have in terms of getting a whopping return. Works for me as a Suns fan.

And yet, if KD is willing to set the team on fire to get a trade as he is now, who's to say he won't do the same to the Suns (or wherever he ends up) in the future?

That's the thing, no team is going to give up what the Nets want just to watch him do this again and leave them with absolutely nothing.

Just to think the nets has something going with a good young team until the dramaz queens arrive. Shit they would be playoff team with their jarret Allen roster instead of blowing it up . Completed rebuild going to be 5-7 years behind okc …

Not to worry about the Suns. When they decided to keep Ayton, any deal involving KD became pretty non-existent. He also said there were three teams he'd consider going to and the Suns were NOT on his short list.

KD's made it very clear that he wants to play for the Suns because he wants to play with Booker. Other sports press has tried to pull headlines out of thin air about Miami and Boston. Nets didn't want Ayton either, so anything, if it were to happen, would involve multiple teams to make it work. Of course, that's an non-starter now.

Phoenix can still very much trade for KD. It'll put them into some high luxury tax, but it's doable. IMO, it's a good idea just as long as they don't trade Mikal Bridges as part of it. Everyone else outside of the starting lineup is expendable.
