Another Neo Geo CDZ laser issue

So i have got myelf a CDZ from Japan , i was super happy , except when i turn it on , the laser didn't read anything , so i have picked u another unit from the only place i acould find one , Liberty Electronics , replacement was easy , but now what i get it the disc spins a few revolutions (slowly) i hear the lazer up and down , but thats all i get ?? any help appreciated from a proper miffed of user lol

bottom left solder point on your pic, isn't that the blob you need to remove?

Did you remove the solder blob?

What brand is the replacement? I really don't trust these cheap replacement laser lens assemblies to last very long.

the first one was a sharp but the connector thats a 6 pin was a 5 on the one they sent , the second make is no idea , i asked about solder blob and they say it doesnt have one , i have told them it is also faulty as i noticed the laser doesn't light up at all , i would expect to see a bit of a red light

those sellers often have no idea what they're selling

to me it really looks like this is the blob, the blob is shorting the cap

can you try to remove the solder and try it out again/see whats beneath it?

Tony, I am in the same predicament. Just a few spins and the console says "Set CD" (translated from Japanese - I guess its "Insert CD" or game).
Did removing the solder blob help? I removed mine but no change unfortunately.
