Not sure how reliable this supposed leaker source is. I reading in a thread about Transformers missing link Sunstreaker & Arcee on tfw2005 forum. According to this source Ultra Magnus will be getting the missing link treatment. Not sure when or if ever but would be cool to see that brick of a trailer get articulation when in bot mode.

God. Damn. It.

I may be in the minority but I was never a fan of the beast wars era toys. I watched the show long after it aired and I admit the show is great. (fuck beast machines tho) but the toys.. eeeuugh was never a fan of animal-formers other than the Dinobots.

Nice one, wataru.

Now we can restage the epic Force Commander versus Biotron battles of old!

The Micronauts toy line was sold here but got overshadowed by all the Mazinger stuff that flooded the shops for a while. I wasn't a huge fan but preferred Micronauts over Mazinger because they were sold cheaper, even small Mazinger robots cost more than a Matchbox car (the common currency back then), and in our world, a robot simply couldn't beat a car, so Matchox always won.

I had played with the Micronauts toys as a kid but I didn't understand any of them. I had no idea who any of these characters were but they were pretty neat and weirdly very poseable in an era where toys were quite inflexible.

My love for Micronauts comes from the Marvel comic series, specifically the early issues with Mantlo/Golden and then Mantlo/Broderick. The X-Men/Micronauts limited series was quite good, too. I kept buying the title until it went to direct market but I wasn't happy with some of the creative decisions. Still, I soldiered on. When I finally was able to get my hands on a direct market issue after a while, so much had changed. Bug was with Mari now, Arcturus Rann was a sad man with a beard and there was this weird fleshy naked monster looking dude and a giant pink satyr (or whatever) on the team. Still, my memories of those first two years, even when they eventually crossed over with the Marvel Universe as a whole, are some of my fondest childhood memories. Very derivative of Star Wars in a lot of ways but I wasn't going to say no to more Star Wars themed stuff at that age. I own all three of the recent Marvel omnibuses and will be starting my read through very soon.

I love those issues. Golden's art was a freaking revelation on that series. And I became a big Broderick fan from Micronauts, following him to DC's Firestorm and then his creator-owned Sun Runners. But I still think the Butch Guice-drawn issues were where Mantlo really hit his stride.

Guice's art was as close as we ever got to the Golden era of Micronauts visually. Mantlo is criminally underrated as a writer. Such a reliable workhorse that held it down every single time.

As for Michael Golden, I don't think I'd ever seen artwork that visually striking in comics before. It wasn't just the character work but the wild universe he rendered and the light sourcing in some of those panels. I remember Arcturus looking at the Enigma Force and the way the light shone off his face was unlike anything I'd ever seen in a comic book.

I loved Micronauts as a kid. I'm really sad to see subpar 7 have them. Almost everything they put out is overpriced garbage and means so long as they have the rights to produce toys, there won't be any chance of anyone decent getting the license.

Oh well.

I’m pretty sure we interacted in threads or PMs about the hay day of Pacific Comics. Sun Runners was my jam. The Bernie Wrightson stuff- I loved so much of the PC comics output.

The Schanes Bros. published portfolios were always something I wanted as a kid, but ended up putting that money toward more books to read.

The big thing I completely passed on at the time but am kicking myself for not picking up is all of PC's Kirby stuff. Especially Captain Victory, which no one at the time realized was a direct sequel to Kirby's Fourth World.

Silver Star omnibus is on Amazon.

Image did a nice job, and it's cool having them all in one hard cover since I missed the individual issues other than number 1.

They were allegedly going to collect all 13 PC issues (plus the 1 shot) of Captain Victory, but I haven't seen evidence that it was ever released.

Looks like Storm is trying to compete with Jada on their budget line and I must say that Baki looks great.

I love me some Baki, but those Storm figures are out of my range, but $25 is not.

Yeah, I forget what happened, but there was some problem and it got cancelled.

Isn't the Silver Star omnibus in black and white, printed from Kirby's pencils? I don't remember if there was also a color version.

Not sure about a Silver Star graphite version; I have seen a ‘graphite’ collection of Capt. Victory (Kirby pencils/no ink). It’s a trip, and I’m kicking myself for not buying it when I had the chance.

The Silver Star I have has been colored.
