very nice. It's different painting the bigger models. people think it would be easier, but it's a completely different set of techniques.

I've not really been able to work on any of my projects for a while.

This previous week I was finally able to do a little painting, and started on some figures from Masters of the Universe Battleground.

Trying to do a little different style on these so having to figure things out. No metallic paints for one thing. Just trying to get something good enough to put on the table and play with.

There are two.

One released by CMON - I think it is called Clash for Eternia or something like that.

The other one is from Archon. MOTU battleground.

Both are different games. The CMON is more of a co-op board game that has a game master run the bad guys.

The Archon one is a Miniature Skirmish game. There are expansion that release more characters and such.

Archon also has a board game - Fields of Eternia but I don't count that one.

The issue is that there is currently a licensing thing going on so one is for US release and the other for Europe.

The one I like.... naturally would be the Euro release so I have to either import stuff or order them through Badger games.

Badger games is pretty solid and good priced so I get most of my stuff that way, but the convention exclusive stuff I have to get of ebay. Thankfully, none of the convention stuff is needed to play the game. Actually it isn't very good in game play terms, it's more decorative.

There is going to be a crowd funding coming up for a US release of the game I think. I expect that pretty soon now that they have the newest expansion coming out, as they said it will have all current expansions available

The CMON game has a late pledge going on for their game on gamefound.

Screwed up and double posted that.

Anyhow, seeing as how I got this space, may as well use it.

I'm not all that into the preternia stuff. but I'm pretty excited about the Snake Men.

These look excellent. The high contrast pastel colors look great for these models. I really struggle with this style. I am so accustomed to grim dark and realistic. I can't paint clean stuff like anime, gundam, or infinity models.

Thank you. It isn't all that hard to get those results.

I'm painting each of my base much lighter than I would want them. Then using one of those Army Painter speed paints over each color. So for the blue, its a light blue base, then a light medium blue speed paint. If fills in dark, and being over the same color it stains the base coat a little darker blue. Now I do tend to thin down the wash as it's better to apply multiple washes than do one too heavy and have to fix it Once, it is dry and I'm happy with it, then I start highlighting with the original base color. I may do another lighter one after that if need be.

I don't use any of those speed paints in the manner they are suggested, I'm basically using them like ink washes.

Black starts out as a medium gray. Gets a black speed paint. Then once dry I do it again only on the lower or undersides of things. Then if I want highlights it's back to the gray.

Flesh and other little colors are done more traditional. but the bulk of the models painting is done that way.. Good enough for the table top. not going to win any awards.

I was not aware, @Dr Shroom, that you had a capacity in your heart to create something so beautiful.

Well done.

Slapped some paint on to test out stuff on a model today.

So, 4th edition was I believe the last edition to have Undead as their own army list. After that it was Vampire Counts, and then later Tomb Kings were added. Anyhow, because of that there were no more undead chariots. I started playing Warhammer Fantasy, during 4th edition and rather liked the chariots even though they were kind of goofy.

Anyhow this is all 3d printed. Resin Minis, and an FDM basic flat base. Nothing special, just a quick paint job I've 7 more to do. 4 of them will be with archers. I still need to make the banner though.

I went into a WarHammer store a couple weeks ago to look around. I know absolutely nothing about WH other than its existence, so I figured hey I'd like to check it out.

It was a pretty huge buy-in though. Like one little unit guy was nearly $40, and a 'starter set' was like $130. Is that really the entry price for this game?

I quit buying the new stuff a while back. Keeping up with Kill Team releases was getting to be to much. The price increases have gotten pretty insane.

I was tempted to get into that new smaller scale game they put out but stayed out of it. I have a bunch of 30k stuff I've never done anything with as it is.

The price is one thing, but I don't like the style of a lot of the newer figures so between the two that kind of turned me off.

I don't play any of their core games these days. I'm more into oldhammer type stuff like 3rd - 6th edition fantasy and , Mordheim,

I do have a sizeable 54mm Inquisitor collection, and a lot of Battlefleet Gothic thatI would like to get some use out of someday.

There are so many great miniature agnostic games these days. I’d only buy in to something like 40K if I was head over heels in love with 40K.

buy recasts from china or print your own minis.
