Arcade top for mame

So I was looking for a cheap way to make a bartop enclosure for my mame system when I saw this. It's really all I need since I don't care about the sticks or chassis; it's really just about the monitor(16" CRT Dell--can always go bigger but that's the spare monitor I currently have). The setup I've chosen to go with is really just a pc with an x arcade tank stick. Nothing fancy and I don't care to build a whole cabinet for it. But I'd imagine there's a cheaper alternative to buying a $150 "XTENSION".

Well even if the Xtension is cheaper it's not an option because my monitor is a CRT not LCD. So that'd put me closer to $300 I'd imagine. This would work perfectly. I just need to figure out the wood working aspect of it.

google for mame bartop kit. There's a few plans out there. Also I think there's some pre-cut wood kits you can buy.

Here's one of the random kits I found after a quick search. (but it only supports up to a 15" crt)
