What version/platform of MvC2 are these cabs going to be running? I'd assume an emulation of the arcade board would be beyond the horsepower of whatever cheap globtop board that they've used in all their other stuff.

I would think the arcade version would be the only version they could possibly run. Naomi/Dreamcast emulation have more or less the same hardware requirements and anything beyond that is going to be way too complex for their little rinky dink ARM boards.

Plus the versions after the arcade/DC are notoriously not up to the standards of the originals (minor bugs and small gameplay differences). Not that most people buying these things would give a shit.

I've not heard for sure what it was (not that I've dug into it) but I did read someone on another forum say it was an all new port, which is a ludicrous idea. Is Naomi emulation to the point where they could pull it off on the hardware they run this shit on?

I mean there isn't any (accurate) port that's going to be less demanding than just emulating the Naomi.

I don’t think anyone knows the processor yet but a recent A1Up Street Fighter 2 release has a 2 ghz Quad Core Processor with 8 gb of ram. I guess that’s overpowered for SF2 but they typically have a specific pcb/specs for each wave of cabs they release.

I don’t know what any of that means, but that’s what folks seem to think will be in MvC2.

I don’t think this is based off the Dreamcast or later digital versions, it is a port of the arcade version....though all characters will be unlocked from the start. They said they did that for online tournaments....

EDIT: Looks like NFL Blitz will be officially announced today and then the next one will be Time Crisis/Point Blank.

No news about the Smash TV 1up cab? I might actually be a sucker for this.

Smash TV would be great and something they’ve discussed doing. IIRC would have Smash TV, Total Carnage (meh), Robotron and Berserk (i’m not familiar with that one).

I think they were having trouble with the licensing, but assume they will get it squared away eventually.

Separately, I received this. Got it’s part of their flash sale for $150. After shipping came to a little over $200, but still a really good price. Got to say, they do a really nice job with their packaging...this one in particular looks sharp.

Not sure when i’m going to get time to build it. Maybe this weekend.

I bought the gen 1 Final Fight cab when it was new. I always wanted a scaled down arcade cab since I don't have the space for a full size one. I've since gutted it and turned it into a mame/hyperspin cab with an old pc. It scratches the itch.

Not familiar with Berzerk? That's the generation gap for you :tickled:

From my "Arcade Sequel" thread:

Berzerk (Stern 1980) will always be known not just for going into rooms and being attacked by robots but by its cute sayings: "Intruder Alert!", "Chicken fight like a robot!" and "Destroy the human!" However the sequel Frenzy (1982) to me was a very nasty game, full of shoot away and reflective walls, fast and cheap deaths. You could shoot 'Evil Otto' in Frenzy however another one comes twice as fast, then the next 5 times faster (in one level if you kill Otto, 4 of them appear!)

I played the he'll out of Berserk, great game.
Never knew there was a sequel.
A VERY nasty sequel to boot! Bots are more aggressive, dots in red walls can be shot away and through, white walls ricochet bullets and in the upper levels, you barely move and you get hit by a bouncing bullet. Good news: You can shoot and kill Evil Otto. Bad news: next one comes twice as fast. The fourth time: you're dead before you can react. Some level when you shoot Otto, FOUR of them will appear and jump all over you :shredder:

That came out great! I got a Galaga marquee from Arcade1Up and ripped off the sticker and put a Marvel vs SF marquee for my MSH cab that I put a MvC PCs...but didn’t come out that nice.

Also, did you ever try putting the MSH pcb in your MvC or Big Blue? I am tempted to try but don’t want to blow the monitor out. :p

EDIT: tonight I tried using the Marvel Super Heroes PCB on the monitor that came with Marvel vs. Capcom and no luck. Oh well at least I know now.

EDIT EDIT: actually it does work! Nice to play Children of the Atom and Punisher again!

Its going great. i was able to get the MvC2 at Target, plus 20% off using student coupon.

As for arcade1up, i've been converting all my big blues as of late. I did an x-men vs street fighter & just finish Darkstalkers conversion.

I heard Daytona USA is happening. Interested to see how they morph that cab into an arcade 1up.

There was an upright version of Daytona but I think it was kind of rare and the cab looked quite different from the sit down that people are used to seeing so I wonder which design they might try to harken to with the arcade 1up. The game also uses a 4 gear shifter which would be a new item for an a1up to have. Given the purported low quality of many of their control parts like pedals on outrun/ridge racer and spinner and trackball on the atari cabinets I'm nervous of what their cheap take on a 4 gear shifter will be (or maybe they'll just do a two way shifter and edit the game/emulator so it will shift sequentially, that would be a big let down for existing Daytona fans)
