Squid Game 3 had pretty much none of the charm of S1 but it mostly worked I guess? So of course NF is going to kick the shit out of that dead horse until there's nothing left.
Working my way through the second season currently. I am at the one where the teams of 5 have to play the childrens' games.

I don't believe there is any way in hell Seong Gi-Hun will win the second season games but he won't die either.

I am really enjoying T.O.P. as Thanos. He is fucking cracking me up with his Korean English hybrid speak and overly dramatic poses. The anti @basic.

Netflix is so insanely set on quantity over quality that it's just pathetic at this point.

Max sucks ass right now too.

Bring back cable.
The only thing they're bringing back is piracy. No way I'm going back to buying a cable package.

Currently half way through Squid Game S03 and I'm really digging it.

I'm continually surprised by the twists and turns they keep throwing at me. At the end of S03E03 (the 'jump rope' episode), something happens at the end that I didn't see coming but which, in retrospect, made all the sense in the world.

There are some serious plot contrivances going on in service to the theme but I ain't even mad. The entire series concept (a remote island no one can find where death games take place) is a plot contrivance that spreads credulity thinner than any of the personal travails each of the characters is going through. It could even be argued that most of this stuff is allowed by the people running the games because it adds some asymmetry for added entertainment value. There's definitely an element here where they are more interested in human nature than in who wins a bunch of silly games for money.

I sort of wish seasons 2 and 3 had just been the first season but on the other hand, knowing what's coming is part of the intensity.

I love that they brought back all the poorly English speaking white people too lol

Finished Squid Game.

I always have to remind myself before watching anything made by Koreans that it will be a bittersweet ending, with far more bitter than sweet.

A series like this can't really have a clean ending. It's always about missed and wasted opportunities and the hope that the people that carry on will learn from the suffering and not fall into the same traps.

Overall, I was satisfied but I absolutely did NOT care about the North Korean girl at all. Her plot was completely irrelevant to me.

I also felt that the cop character's entire arc was wasted with too much meandering, futility and lack of denouement. I felt as though I invested in his storyline for nothing at the end of things.

Overall, I give it a 8 out of 10. Not bad for a series that never needed a season 02 or season 03 but overperformed anyway.

Peggy sounds old, and Dale sounds really off. I think this was still Hardwick right before his passing. Will be interesting to hear the difference once they run out of stuff he recorded and switch over to Toby Huss.

But overall the first few episodes were really good. Better than the last season or two of the original run for sure.

Watched the first couple episodes, it’s weird. It’s not terrible but it’s not amazing. The first episode was rough especially since they crammed a lot into it but once they got past all the catching up and settling the characters back in and got back to the old formula it felt a lot better.

Dale definitely sounds off.

Even a bit wobbly it’s still leagues better than just about every other animated sitcom streaming services have been churning out in the last few years. It’s also just kind of nice to see something “normal” considering the state of everything these days.

I didn't appreciate King of the Hill when it first aired but it definitely grew on me over the years. What animated shows are still good?

Bob's Burgers is still good.

American Dad has become increasingly daring and unhinged as the years have gone along. It was a pretty shit show in the early years and it got better as MacFarlane became less involved (he used to run the whole show, but now he just does voicework and occasionally pitches ideas while other people do the day to day showrunning).

Family Guy is exactly the same as it ever was. So mostly shit with occasionally good gags; I only ever end up watching it because I'm too lazy to change the channel after Bob's Burgers.

Futurama has jumped the shark several times over and is a sad shell of its former self. Don't bother even trying.

No need to rehash how shit the Simpsons has been for a long time.

South Park recently had some pretty lazy seasons and some tryhard over serialized seasons, but this whole business with Paramount trying to stiff them and then sucking Trump's dick has fired Matt and Trey up and the most recent season premiere was hilarious.

The Beavis and Butt-Head revival is fantastic. No reservations, it's as good as you could possibly ask for.

Rick and Morty has had a strong couple of seasons after all the dust with the Roilland shit settled. They went off the rails for a couple years there but they pulled out of it. They are committed to actually growing their characters and the show has benefitted from that.

If you haven't seen Common Side Effects, check that one out. It's from Mike Judge's studio and he does some voicework on it, but he's not behind the creative. It's a serialized drama, not a sitcom like the others, but it's really good. A lot of the people who made it came from the canceled one-season HBO show Scavenger's Reign, which is a really unique show that follows people on a very alien world. Definitely check that one out.

I've recommended Undone a billion times and I'll keep doing it, if you haven't seen that one it should top the list.

Yeah, the new Beavis and Butthead is realily good.

Watched a couple more episodes of KOTH and it found its groove pretty quick. Good stuff.

Really enjoyed the first two episodes of the KOTH revival. When I saw Boomhauer for the first time the hairs on my neck stood up, these fictional characters are like old friends. Making Hank an expat and experiencing reverse culture shock was a good choice. Having Bobby not be some fat idiot loser is also a surprising but really good choice as well - he's not even truly fat anymore, and he's actually competent at what he does. Any minor complaints for me, like Dale's voice not being spot on, don't really matter to me.

I'm really digging this, so I'll reward myself with some delayed gratification and drag out watching the episodes. What a bummer there are only 10.

Cheers for bringing this revival to attention, folks.

It has already been renewed for season 15 and Beavis and Butt-Head is about to start its third season since the most recent revival. And Common Side Effects has also been renewed, so Mike Judge's studio seems to really have their shit together.

Apparently episode 7 is where Toby Huss completely takes over for Johnny Hardwick. Some prior episodes have both actors stitched together, so that goes a bit towards explaining why Dale is so uneven.

I love Dale's conspiracy board. It has all the people in the neighborhood separated into categories based on how much he trusts them.

Only John Redcorn is in the "trust" category while everyone else is either a ? or untrustable.

Haven't watched much TV series recently, but I watched The Pitt, a medical drama where one season covers one shift with the guy from ER but its a totally different vibe, it's been a while since a series got me hooked like this. I'm also enjoying the new season of Dexter.

Finished the season of King of the Hill.

Spoiler:

Lucky and Luanne are not mentioned at any point. You do see them in photographs on the walls of the Hill home, but neither Lucky nor Luanne nor their daughter Gracie ever appear.

Hank has a nice episode with his brother GH, with a cameo from Junichiro. Nice callback.

Surprised to see Buck Strickland still alive. Seems like there's gotta be a story about how Hank finally left his employ. Did Buck sell to the Saudis? Maybe we'll find out next year.

Peggy's father and Kahn's mother are mentioned to have died, but nobody else. Maybe even Hank and Peggy's mothers are still alive?

Kahn's new voice is pretty jarring. Still would like to see more of Kahn and Minh next season.

Odd that we spend that much time with Boomhauer and his girlfriend's kid, but we don't really see his girlfriend. She doesn't even hang with Nancy, Peggy, and Minh.

10 episodes isn't enough for a 30 minute sitcom season. Hopefully they get a bigger order next time.

I knows it’s just topical bullshit but the first two episodes of this Season’s South Park has been pretty entertaining
Just ducked in here to say South Park is back in really hilarious, pissed off and ballsy way.

I've got two episodes left to watch in the new King of the Hill season. Really enjoying it.

Catching up on old shows, finally finished the new season of the bear, and it was kind of meh. Same with Yellowjackets... I think it should have been wrapped up in like two or three seasons, but of course they are milking it.

The pilot for Buffy the Vampire Slayer: New Sunnydale has started filming.

All I ask is that they use prosthetics, makeup, and other practical effects as much as possible. A lot of the demon designs from the original show have held up really well (not Adam though).
