Finished up Punisher season 2. It was okay, not as satisfying as the first season.

A couple things bothered me; I remember Jigsaw in the comics being legitimately fucked up looking. In this they tease him being horrendously disfigured with the mask thing but then when they finally show his face it’s just a few scars. As well as Madani talking to the shrink and revealing way too much. It didn’t make her seem like she was vulnerable and needed someone to talk to, it made her come off as dumb and not a good judge of character. Also Frank and Karen have zero chemistry.

Overall the season was pretty enjoyable though.

The American Gladiators reboot is just beyond fucking awful. How in the hell did this shit get made?

Edit it is okay as muted in the background while I'm finally running through PS4 on Nomad I suppose.

Beef S2 was weird as hell and somehow really interesting. Lots of ridiculous plot holes but pretty absorbing overall.

Watched the new season of Malcom in the Middle and it’s pretty good. Honestly feels like they hardly skipped a beat after a few minutes. I forgot just how big of a part of the show Bryan Cranston is. Hal be wildin’.

Nice to see this and KOTH return and get some clever sitcoms with some actual positivity and common sense in them again.

I’ve seen DTF St. Louis recommended a couple places by people whose opinions I trust. I assumed from the title and ads I saw that it was a hacky wine mom murder mystery. Well it kind of is but it’s also a really well made and written deep character drama with some very sharp humor. I think I’m 4 episodes in and I’m surprised at how good it is.

It’s weird though, like it just has this really unique vibe to it. It’s really sincere but it also has the constant undercurrent of anxiety and it’s constantly balancing them. It’s very effective.

I thought I was sick of David Harbour but he really steals the show here. The whole cast is great but he’s outstanding.

Spoiler:
Also Linda Cardelini pegging Jason Bateman was not something I had on my bingo card.

I'm up through episode 6 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters S02 and am digging it., for the most part,

It still has the same problems as S01, largely revolving around the annoying cast. Cate, Kentaro and May are all fucking annoying and wish they'd get stepped on by a Titan so I don't have to listen to their whiny bullshit. Their personal arcs are what passes for young character 'drama' in the modern age, I guess. Embarrassing as fuck.

The older cast (Keiko, Hiroshi, Bill and Lee) are vastly more interesting and, honestly, could have carried all of this story's human moments without those young cunty faggots getting in the way.

The best thing about the show remains showing us a reality where people have to live on a planet adjusting for survival against the Titans. They are treated jvery much as any other severe weather threat, which is really the only way we could manage when faced with the potential threat of an indestructible giant monster suddenly appearing.

The brinksmanship of a corporation having government influence profiting off of a problem that they create in order to keep operating is...timely, to say the least. If someone can imagine it in a story and it is feasible in a real world scenario, you can bet your ass it's already happening.

I will give it 3.5 out of 5. It's not something I'd consider 'must watch' television but it is a fascinating experiment as scripted dramas go and because it is doing a decent enough job of telling a long form Godzilla (and various) story, I would give it a hearty enough endorsement.

as a St Louis native, I'm a little disappointed a show called DTF St Louis has absolutely nothing to do with St Louis, and is not even filmed in St Louis.

As a show, it's remarkable in that it makes you cringe as hard as possible, but you still want to watch the next episode. which then cringes even harder than the last episode. I hated every minute, but I couldn't quit. I dont know what that is, but this show is it.

I wouldn’t call it cringe, like I said it a mix of extreme sincerity and palpable anxiety. It’s definitely a vibe.

The character development of Floyd really feels genuine and it makes you invested in finding out what happened to him. Jason Bateman plays off of that perfectly. Even the detectives and the way the investigation is handled help create a more immersive experience. The shows pacing and camera work really contribute to that as well.

All the sex stuff also feels pretty realistic in the context of the story. Weird and sometimes goofy but it never feels exploitative or outright ridiculous.

This easily could have just been more disposable wine mom murder porn but it’s so much better than that.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone who is interested in an intelligent and deep adult mystery. It’s a really unique little show.

Glad Jason Bateman's still getting work. Holy moley looking at his picture now, this dude has not aged. That's some Dorian Gray shit like that.

Finished up Monarch: Legacy of Monsters S02 this morning.

It's far from the best of big G but it's also far from the worst. I was engaged enough watching it that it kept me invested.

The young characters need to be stepped on or eaten post haste. They are all fucking annoying. Kentaro, Cate and May. Begone with you, faggots.

Lee Shaw (Kurt and Wyatt Russell, in different eras) is the best character in the series. He is that rare character in a kaiju movie that you actually want to see more of. Or, at the very least, when he's on screen, you aren't wishing he'd go away to see more kaiju. Wyatt Russell is getting his own prequel series set in the mid 80s where he's dealing with cold war era Soviet attempts to utilize Titans (likely Rodan, but we don't know for sure, yet) for their own nefarious purposes. A show about Lee Shaw that doesn't have shitty younger characters that don't know shit having equal say to the actual grown ups? I'm all in.

I will say that Cate establishing a psychic rapport with Titan X (a kaiju that the series can utilize without fucking around with the more well known and popular ones that exist in this space) is an interesting twist. This isn't so different from Mothra and her connection with the tiny island girls. It's consistent lore and there's no reason this can't happen with other characters in this interpretation of events. Just too bad it's Cate because she is trash but at least she now has a reason to actually be in this show other than the ongoing pity party over her tormented past.

I'll give the series credit for some nice denouement at the end of things with Cate but why is every lesbian in a TV show a raging bitch that I want to cunt punt? Still not sure what Kentaro's purpose is besides 'well, he's a Randa so he obviously has a role to play' or why we have to suffer May's entire existence. Tim is all right, I guess. Keiko is tolerable too, but I like her more in the flashback sequences.

There is definitely going to be a third season, and it's introducing Rodan into the mix. As I understand it, this causes a potential plot hole given that this is all leading up to Godzilla vs. Kong but with all the quantum nonsense they've introduced into the plot, anything's possible.

I'll give S02 a 3.5 out of 5. Just make it the Lee and Keiko show. They're the only ones that really matter.

Daredevil Born Again season finale tonight. Great episode rounding out a great season.

Also, not sure if anyone else checked it out but the Maul : Dark Lord show ended this week too. That last couple of minutes in the penultimate episode and the finale episode were insane. Apparently they are already working on Maul season 2.

Dude, you completely undersold the last episode of Daredevil this season.

It was fucking great. Damn, that was great. Music at the end was 10/10.

I’m in awe at how great it was.

Really looking forward to the Punisher movie.

For serious. I liked the Netflix show, and liked Season 1 of Born Again for what it was even though it was kind of a hodge-podge of whatever was filmed first and then retooled with reshoots, I can easily say this was definitely one of the best seasons overall.

Definitely bring on the Punisher special and Spider-man BND.

A little late on this one but just finished Atlanta. I always assumed it was a soap opera type thing from what I remember of the ads. It’s definitely a drama but it’s very quirky and not afraid to get weird. It’s a very well written and creative show that I think was overlooked by a lot of people.

Darius has now made my list of favorite characters and Teddy Perkins is one of the most legitimately creepy characters ever, like something straight out of a Lynch film.

Like with Yellowstone, never watched it but I've seen some scenes that I found entertaining. One that sticks out in my mind was when he tried to buy movie tickets.

Anyways to my surprise the Teddy Perkins episode was uploaded on Chinese youtube and after reading what you wrote I watched it. That was a nice way to spend 40 minutes. I feel retarded for not realizing the man in the wheelchair was not his brother, but his abusive father. Donald Glover, ridiculously talented guy. Had no idea he was the actor for Teddy.
