ATT is spinning out Warner Media for a merger with Discovery Inc.

The new company would be standalone and would own

HBO, HBO Max
Cinemax
The CW (50%)
Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, Boomerang
CNN
TBS
TNT
TruTV
HLN
Turner Classic Movies
Discovery Channel, Discovery+
Animal Planet
Science Channel
Cooking Channel
Food Network
HGTV
Discovery Family
TLC
Travel Channel
Oprah Winfrey Network
DIY Network
Motor Trend
Starz (3%)
Warner Bros Pictrues
New Line Cinema
Lionsgate (3%)
Warner Interactive (Avalanche, Netherrealm, Rocksteady, Traveller's Tales, WB Games, etc)
DC Comics, Mad Magazine

I guess the potential merger with NBC-Comcast fell through so they moved right onto Discovery.

tv network shit is officially a pain in the fucking ass and probably easily surpassing the price of cable... its like an on-demand from hell that doesn't automatically show you a variety of shows, just forces you to power through an entire series unless you manually put something else on, with 5 or more standard apps to switch between.

How much per month for

Netflix
Hulu
HBO Max
Disney
Paramount
Apple tv +
Amazon Prime

and even there you don't get CNBC, ESPN, TNT unless you have a cable plan.

Ahar, mateys. The seas are a-callin'.

edit: dunno if this will work overseas, but this web site has tons of new (and some old) shows just streaming easily. You may need to know the Chinese title. If so, request me and I'll look it up for you. https://www.meiju11.com/

the new Paramount network and Peacock shit was an unwelcome new monthly fee that I want to avoid, but I want my Miami Vice when the Starz contract ends. Fucking pieces of shit are raping me in the ass.

Chaz, pretty sure those network subscriptions easily add up to $80+ if you take the commercial-free options into consideration

Paramount isn’t something you keep. You just sign up for it for a month here and there for Star Trek discovery binge sessions.

I would gladly just pay for a commie ass wifi box called "Cable Television" for $60 a month. Fuck capitalism

If Pluto TV had a VIP Big Tymers subscription option I'd be on that like a naked Sylvie in a room full of naked Sylvies

No can do. Not only am I a law abiding citizen, but I like to closely simulate the good ol' days of cable television so that I feel less lonely in the face of media consumption

Thankfully there's nothing on Paramount or Apple that I want to watch.

My subscriptions are getting out of hand anyway, though:
Netflix
Disney bundle (Hulu, Disney+, ESPN+)
Showtime
DAZN
Bare Knuckle TV
HBO Max
Amazon Prime
Ring of Honor Wrestling's Honor Club

Showtime, DAZN, and ESPN+ are almost exclusively for watching boxing. Expensive sport to follow, unfortunately.

Bare Knuckle is only 4 bucks a month and for some reason Ring of Honor hasn't been charging me for over a year but I still have access to all their premium content, so that's pretty rad. Hopefully they never notice.

Amazon I would keep even if I never watched anything on just for the free shipping.

Netflix, Hulu, Disney, and HBO actually get watched fairly regularly at least.

I get Peacock for free from my cable subscription but I've never actually used it.

If I just had 1 option full time, it would be Hulu. Then I would sign up for a month of Nflx for The Witcher, a month of Mandalorian when the season completely drops, and HBO for a month if they get a good show again. Otherwise it’s just not worth it to maintain all these contracts.

Apple TV makes it easy to unsubscribe but I feel like there should be a better way overall to wallet all the subs together and schedule unsubbing.

A lot of these subscriptions have a "pause button" in the settings. I know Hulu does.

During the worst of the pandemic there was no boxing and I was able to pause my DAZN subscription for six months, then re-activate at my discounted early adopter price when boxing returned. I was even able to schedule a date to automatically unpause the day before boxing returned with no additional input from me.

The Kominsky Method- Michael Douglas and Alan Arkin play a washed up actor that runs an acting studio and his agent grappling with old age, death and personal relationships. There's some great dialogue, the acting class scenes in particular are hilarious but it's totally just 2 old dudes talking about dying.

Also Paul Rieser and Kathleen Turner are in it and are almost unrecognizable due to age and weight. Reiser looks like Oscar from Arrested Development.

Oh yeah and Haley Joel Osman plays a scientologist.

If you have parents 65 or older they will get a lot of enjoyment out of it.

Loki is horrible. Everything so bad. The time cops include some diabetic huffer and Owen “what ate my nose?!” Wilson. I gave up. Unwatchable.

Started watching a series on the NXVIUM cult on HBO.

Pretty good stuff.

On a less fun note... so we like Hell's Kitchen (comfort / hangover television ) and I remember when the first season came out. We put on the latest season the other day and we are officially disgusted and I am officially convinced that Gordon Ramsey has been castrated in the last 5 years or so.

A bunch of fuckheads from my generation were on this season. he didn't tear up ONE of them, and most of them most definitely made some garbage that was worse than stuff we've seen in earlier seasons... where Ramsey was very entertainingly rude & blunt . Not anymore. Not to mention you have to put up with hearing about the contestants fucking feelings and diversity and shit.

Never watching again... time to hunt down the early seasons they exclude from Hulu (for whatever reason)

I'm kind of embarrassed you gave it a shot in the first place.

That’s too bad. You know, back in high school I used to set up the jocks for easy zingers, by saying dumb stuff, so they could feel like they looked cool in front of their friends. Anyhow, I wasn’t cool. I did get a gold medal on the National Latin exam.

Is it really a diabetic character or are they just fat?
