I think this is a great concept and wish it was a bit cheaper.
I really just kinda wanted to post and have nothing else to add to this thread.

Edit:
Oh wait, also this,

I've played Pig Mania, but I could have sworn it was called something else. I seem to remember one result as "Makin' Bacon" lol. Plenty of fun.

Has anyone ever played City of Remnants?

I bought it years ago to play but I could never get a group to play. It has a lot of pieces and seems like great fun. The wife and I played one or two games of it. But its been a while.

I also have Star Trek Catan, which is - titties.
Carcassone is awesome. I even bought that shit on Xbox Live Arcade years ago.

I’ve played that game as Pass the Pigs, not sure if it got rebranded at some point or what.

I saw a porno back in the day where one of the stars had a tattoo of one pig mounting the other and it said “Makin’ Bacon” below. Perhaps you saw the same porno.

lol Im sure I have seen that in porno :ROFLMAO:

I asked the wife, and she said she remembers the game being called "Pig Out." But I think thats what you exclaim when you win, or something? Not sure.

I feel like the Clue and Monopoly suggestions are a joke, but maybe not.

Board games have evolved at faster/better pace than tech the last 20 years. Think on that. If you play Clue or Monopoly or Yahtzee then you must also get your milk in a glass bottle on your stoop.

Easy to learn, 4-6p games that play in 75 mins or less:
Mysterium (an infinitely better version of Clue) - interactive, fun
Dominion - deckbuilding, fast turns
Hand to Hand Wombat - dexterity / party
Paris Connection - trains, fast actions, easy to teach, strategy
Medium - party, interactive
Pictomania (infinitely better than pictionary) - interactive, party, drawing
Power Grid - strategy, fast turns (usually), can be boring if you fall behind
Alhambra - strategy, tile laying, fast turns
Just One - party, word, trivia-ish sorta
Stella - party, imagination, simultaneous action
Happy Pigs - strategy, action selection, fast turns
Red Rising - hand management, mult-track scoring, easy to teach
Tapestry - strategy, heaviest game on list (but not super heavy), unique factions
Metro X - flip and write, fast, easy to teach, simultaneous action
Welcome To... - flip and write, new strategy each playthrough, simultaneous action
Time's Up Title Recall - party, charades, password mashup, fantastic
One Night Werwolf - any of the Bezier werewolf games, uses an app, best with 6-8, party
Pitch Car - dexterity
Diamant / Incan Gold - push your luck, simultaneous action
For Sale - bid/buy/auction, fast, easy to teach

If you have a preference on party, strategy, trivia, artsy, drawing, tile laying, card based, etc that would help narrow it down. We play 6 almost exclusively. There are literally hundreds of excellent games in each category.

I echo some recommendations already mentioned. For non-gamers you probably want to start with lighter games, but not Hasbro
or Milton Bradley stuff. You can find many of these at Target now.
  • Dixit
  • Telestrations
  • Detetive Club
  • Splendor
  • Just One
  • Werewords
  • Saboteur
  • Secret Hitler
  • Point Salad

I feel personally attacked by this post! :D Always down to try new games though.

Sleuth is a great alternative to Clue. There are some great classics owned by MegaCorps (Hasbro, etc) like Acquire and Diplomacy but yeah they’re few and far between.

I haven’t really actively board gamed in a long time. Mostly just TTRPGs.

No one wants to play monster wargames with me lol.

We have the Golden Girls edition of Clue.

You have to find out who ate all the cheese cake.

Was it on the lanai? The kitchen? Gotta find out.

I want to hate you for this but I can’t. I’ll never forget that you suffered through the Halo series for us. WWHDDD?

It sounds like your group may not be interested in learning many rules. For games that are somewhat social and casual, I recommend:
  • Dixit
  • So Clover
  • Wavelength
  • Illusion
  • Just One
If you want something a bit more strategic, but still very simple to learn, I recommend Qwirkle.
