Reigning WBA, WBO, IBO Super Lightweight World Champion Kali Reis co-wrote and starred in an independent action/thriller film coming out next weekend:

Theatrical and streaming hybrid release. Seems to be getting a good reaction so far.

Reis is expected to face Ring Magazine, WBC, and IBF champion Chantelle Cameron for the undisputed championship at some point this year; all six belts and the lineal title on the line.

That Keith Thurman fight. I really enjoyed that. I just very much like both fighters and it worked out. Thurman looks very good physically after such a long hiatus

He should've stopped Barrios in 5 rounds. Keith hasn't had a stoppage in almost 7 years and hasn't beaten a ranked opponent in 5 years.

Barrios got stopped at 140 by a pregnant Tank Davis. No excuses for Thurman.

Santa Cruz shouldn't have let his tune up go the distance either.

Jesse Rodriguez had the upset in the much more entertaining scrap against the great Carlos Cuadras. The kid beat the legend to become the youngest world champion in boxing at just 21 years old. The kid moved up in weight and took the fight on 5 days notice. Epic performance.

Ryan Garcia recently announced a fight against Emmanuel Tagoe. Everyone wants to see him fight a real boxer, but he keeps finding taxi drivers .

Campbell scared him.

Also some boxing coming to So. Cal with Vergil Ortiz vsMcKinson at the Galen Center in March.

They also announced Shakur Stevenson vs Oscar Valdez fight in April at the MGM, but I'm not sure if Valdez has signed the contract 🤔

Finally, some talk of De la Hoya VS. Mayweather 2. People saying this will be a 300 million purse. Mayweather said they should be able to 5 million ppv.
They are full of shit, I'd watch, but wouldn't pay.

Jake Paul is a shitbag but he's putting together the biggest women's boxing card ever in April

Main Event:
Katie Taylor (c) vs Amanda Serrano for the undisputed WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF, Ring Magazine, and Lineal Lightweight Title

Taylor: undefeated, undisputed at 135, former titlist at 140
Serrano: unified titlist at 126, former 7 division world titlist (115, 118, 122, 126, 130, 135, 140)

Elin Cederroos (IBF and WBA champion) vs Franchon Crews-Dezurn (WBC and WBO champion) for undisputed WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF and vacant Ring Magazine and Lineal Super Middleweight Title

Cederroos: undefeated
Dezurn: only loss came in her pro debut to the P4P queen, Claressa Shields

They're also trying to get the Kali Reis/Chantelle Cameron unification fight which would be for the WBA, WBC, IBF, WBO, IBO, Ring, and Lineal Super Lightweight Titles onto the card, but no confirmation yet.

Women's boxing still is really shallow, but the ladies at the very top of the sport are super talented and they're all fighting each other. Three undisputed title fights on this card, 147 is still fully undisputed with McCaskill, Hanna Gabriels has all the titles above super middleweight, Shields is expected to become undisputed again at 160 later this year, and there are 3 other divisions that could be unified in 1 or 2 fights.

That's how it should be. One god damn champion per weight division.

At least Jake Paul is willing to help the people on his cards get decent pay. He is a dick though, lol

Fighters that make 50k, still have to pay their team, so they are left with nothing.
You are seeing more and more mma fighters call out boxers to try to make some money.

Don't agree on either take. I thought both fights where impressive for what they where. Competent mid level fights. Not championship level stuff but worthy just the same. Opinions are like arseholes as they say

Barrios has never beaten a good fighter in his life and Thurman hasn't beaten a good fighter in five years.

Barrios sucks and the fact that Thurman let him go the distance says Thurman is shot. The Thurman we saw against the likes of Collazo, Porter, Garcia, Zaveck, Guerrero, and Diaz walks through Barrios like a cheap screen door.

You're wrong, I'm right. It's fine though, please continue
Explain to me why Barrios is good.

He has no good wins, he lost to a much smaller Tank Davis who has less than one handful of good wins, and then he lost to Keith Thurman whose prime ended seven years and half a dozen surgeries ago.

Official for PPV, April 16

Welterweight world title unification
WBC and IBF Champion Errol Spence Jr vs WBA (Super) Champion Yordenis Ugas

Spence vs Champions
W vs Chris Algieri TKO 5
W vs Kell Brook KO 11
W vs Lamont Peterson RTD 7
W vs Mikey Garcia UD 12
W vs Shawn Porter UD 12
W vs Danny Garcia UD 12

Ugas vs Champions:
L vs Shawn Porter SD 12 (robbery)
W vs Omar Figueroa Jr UD 12 (Figueroa was undefeated coming in)
W vs Manny Pacquiao UD 12

Took Ugas a lot longer to get to the top level but he's really looked strong since he got there. Should be a great fight. Ugas has the advantage of having just faced a top level southpaw in Pacquiao; it's rare that someone faces two elite southpaws consecutively.

"Canelo Alvarez and Eddie Hearn's Matchroom Boxing are closing in on a two-fight deal worth upward of $85 million for boxing's top star to compete on DAZN, sources told ESPN. The first fight would pit Alvarez against light heavyweight titleholder Dmitry Bivol on May 7 in a return to 175 pounds.

Provided Alvarez wins, as expected, he would defend his undisputed 168-pound championship against GGG in a long-awaited grudge match Sept. 17, per sources."

Canelo vs Bivol should be a good scrap.

Like I keep saying, GGG whooped Canelo twice but I can't see him doing it again. GGG is 40 and Canelo just keeps getting bigger and better as he goes along.

I really hope Golovkin gets the win he already earned twice, but the most important thing is a definitive end. We can't have three fights in a row between the two with bogus scorecards. I hope, however it ends, it's in a KO or a fair decision.

Danny Jacobs vs John Ryder starting soon. We'll see what Danny has left in the tank. He had way too much trouble beating Rosado last time out. He needs a good performance here to prove he's not washed.

Sounds like George Kambosos is going to defend his lightweight titles against Vasyl Lomachenko next. Nothing official, but:
-Gervonta Davis doesn't even want the fight (ducking)
-Devin Haney is refusing to get vaccinated and asking for too much money to travel to Australia (ducking)
-Ryan Garcia wants the fight, but the Kambosos camp wants him to prove he's fully back. Garcia has pulled out of three fights in the past due to mental health breakdowns and they want him to take a fight and get through it before they spend tens of millions promoting a superfight.

So Lomachenko is the only one who both wants the fight and isn't a risk to blow it up with outside the ring nonsense.

Welp.

Another shameful display by UK boxing.

Danny Jacobs got fucking ROBBED. Easily won 8, arguably 9 rounds. Lost a split decision in John Ryder's home town.

I keep saying this, but there's absolutely NO reason any road fighter should agree to fight in the UK anymore.

The road fighter has to win 3 rounds to get credit for winning 1. It's fucking pathetic.

I'll check out the fight tomorrow morning.

They should ban judges for making these types of decisions.

I scored it
First 7 rounds for Jacobs
8 and 9 for Ryder
10 and 11 swing rounds
12 for Jacobs

Honestly 10 rounds to 2 was a better scorecard than any of the three we got.

Undisputed super lightweight world champion Josh Taylor defends his titles against yet another undefeated challenger this weekend. Check out his recent opposition
Jack Catterall: 26-0-0 (fighting on Saturday)
Jose Carlos Ramirez: 26-0-0 (reigning unified champion; Taylor beat him to become undisputed)
Apinun Khongsong: 16-0-0 (mandatory challenger)
Regis Prograis: 24-0-0 (reigning champion, unification fight)
Ivan Baranchyk: 19-0-0 (reigning champion, Taylor beat him to win his first world title)
Ryan Martin: 22-0-0 (world title eliminator)
Viktor Postol: 29-1-0 (former world champion, only previous loss was to Terence Crawford)

6 undefeated fighters in a row, and the last guy he fought with a single loss on his record had only lost to Bud Crawford.

He also had an earlier KO win against former world champ Miguel Vazquez, most famous for fighting Canelo twice.

Taylor is a guy who has earned his WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF, Ring, and Lineal undisputed title status and is defending it against good competition. Great to see. The anti Tank Davis (Tank could've forced Taylor to fight him as Tank had the WBA regular belt, but he dropped it to fight Cruz).

Shitbag alert:

Basically, a 30-something world champion boxer lured a 17 year old starstruck fan back to his hotel room and then molested her in her sleep.

Canelo has signed a two fight deal.

In May he will return to light heavyweight to challenge current WBA (Super) champion Dmitry Bivol. Bivol:
19-0-0-0, 11 KO, 8 successful title defenses
Notable champions defeated: Joe Smith Jr, Jean Pascal

If Canelo wins that fight and Golovkin successfully defends his WBA/IBF/IBO middleweight titles against Ryota Murata, then Canelo vs GGG 3 will happen in September. Canelo is still the undisputed super middleweight champion so it would be for all the titles (WBA, WBC, WBO, IBF, Ring, and Lineal).

Aside from Beterbiev at 175 or moving all the way up to cruiserweight, these are the best opponents out there for him right now.

Damn. Things are'a brewing. Bivol Canelo is a great matchup and an eventual Canelo GGG III would be epic.

It seems very unlikely now but I hope GGG knocks him out like Marquez did to Pac after the 3 robberies.

First Canelo dropped his WBC title to avoid fighting prime Golovkin
Then Canelo got handed a gift draw in a fight he clearly lost against barely past prime Golovkin
Then Canelo tested positive for PEDs and got the rematch delayed another six months
Then Canelo got handed a gift win in a fight he clearly lost against a clearly fading Golovkin
Then Canelo ducked the third fight for FOUR MORE YEARS

Canelo has only improved and GGG has only faded more since the two robberies took place. It seems like Canelo is destined to win this one legitimately. And that's a shame because GGG was robbed of the two biggest legacy fights that took place in his career. He's definitely going into the HOF but his best wins were over Danny Jacobs, Daniel Geale, David Lemieux, Kassim Ouma, and Kell Brook. All world champions and all very good wins, but none of those guys are all time greats like Canelo. GGG couldn't get any of the greats to actually fight him; they all dropped belts and ducked and ran to other weight divisions like Canelo did the first time around.

Turns out Canelo signed a 3 fight deal. Third opponent TBA, but it's a 3-fight deal worth a minimum of $160 million.
