I've been an NZB guy for awhile now - still can't find a site with everything I want/need though. Torrents are still great for grabbing an entire season or entire run of a show. All the NZBs I find are by episode and it drives me nuts

Copyright trolls watch PB like a hawk these days. Obviously most smart folks use VPNs at this point but PB isn't nearly the reliable/catch-all repository it was 10-15 years ago.

Assuming you don't use them already, Sonarr/Lidarr/Readarr solves the "needing to grab individual episodes/songs/etc." thing pretty deftly.

Tried using Sonarr for TV shows (or whichever one is for shows and not movies) and it was nothing but a headache. I got it working and it would work perfectly and then randomly decide it couldn't see the folders it needed to download stuff. It was like it would just throw its hands up and be like WELP I CANT FIND C:\DD'S SHOWS ANYMORE!"

Then the next week, the episodes would download without a hitch. Next week, WELP I CANT FIND. On and on. I just kicked it to the curb. I started using DuckieTV. Its stupid and cant work with NZB's but I just check it every day or so to check what should be released that day, then I just NZB it. That's the main thing, honestly I just need the schedule in one place.

I dont download a TON of shows, so its not too hard to keep track of. I like the idea behind Sonarr, but it just never worked. Even tried it in a docker container, tried running it on a standard PC, and each time "WELP!.."

@Burning Fight!! Yeah man, usenet. Or you can get into some forums that are all about Mega. Mega is $5 a month for me and works beautifully.

Arrrr, paying for piracy feels so wrong.

I feel ya, but honestly its $5 a month and I can download 1TB of data without hassle. mega does have other uses like using it as a cloud service (because it is) but for $5, its worth it. And tbh, even with porn downloads, I've never come close to 1TB.

I only need so many Private Society vids, naw mean?

Sorry to hear about your struggles. I've had it (along with Radarr and Readarr) setup on multiple media servers over the years with no issue and it's completely hassle free for like 99% of shows (occasionally if you're working with something that's foreign or really rare, their episode lists won't jive with what's available online and it will fuck up the downloads). Honestly, the hardest part for me has always been reinstalling and reingesting all of my folders during the initial setup but I have a couple of dozen shows that are still active and I'll often times have new episodes sitting in Plex before the shows even air.

I mean, do you not pay for a VPN? Cuz if you do any significant amount of downloading and don't have a VPN, you're just begging for trouble at this point. Usenet access (server, search engine) costs about as much as a good VPN and negates most of the need for a VPN. And even if it didn't, it's a comically small price to pay to have access to a nigh infinite amount of media.

Yeah, I have a sub to NordVPN, usually they have a deal. My first goround like 5 years ago was a 3 year deal for half off or something like that. I recently had to reup in May for another "26 months" which is a weird amount of time, but yeah. That 2 years and 2 months cost something like $80, I think? Still tho. I can have Nord running on my NAS for downloads, as well as turning it on if I need it on my browser.

VPN is deffo worth it.

I have a 14 € lifetime account to load some movies from the BBC. No worries I know that I shouldn't use an US VPN for torrenting and stuff.

I started torrenting when you didn't even need a VPN but I don't need to download the interwebz anymore. Some years ago I still had a decent VPN, mainly used it to buy cheap Steam keys and for activating region locked stuff. Direct downloads in the EU are pretty safe not comparable to the US.

I didn't realize rarbg was one of the last bastions for easy torrent hunting. It was the easy option, so I never really looked at the other options for new stuff.
