Last week, i was playing Blazing Lazers for the TurboGrafx. I have finished game in three of its four difficulties (normal, hard, and super mania). I have yet to finish it in God of Game.

I’ve been playing some Strikers 1945 III lately on Switch. I’m not a huge Psikyo fan but this is probably the one from their history I enjoy the most

The last shooter i was playing was Magical Chase for the PC Engine. I am now going for the Game Boy Color version.

I’ve been playing Cybattler it’s a little different with the lock on mechanic. Definitely very Gundam inspired.

Went through some of my PS2 shmup ports last weekend, mainly played Silpheed - The Lost Planet (loved Silpheed on SCD and really dig this one), Dragon Blaze (love the graphics), Dodonpachi Dai-Ou-Jou (not much to say, awesome game) and Shienryu (played it the most, really dig the weapon system, straight-forward gameplay, looks good, sounds good, will get back to it).

So, the Toaplan Shooting Collection boxset arrived from Japan this week, and I had some time to put in last night.

Now, I love a good shmup, but I'm not hardcore like some, and therefore don't judge whether ports are literally identical to the original pcb and dismiss them if they're not, so my take is probably on the more casual side...

This is a pretty solid set overall and I'm glad City Connection have brought this out.

Are the ports as polished as the M2 Shottriggers releases? No, no they're not - I don't care for the gadgets, but M2 would have done a better job overall (and therefore their existing Toaplan ports are superior to what's presented here).

There are plenty of options to tweak, and multiple rom sets for some of the games.

I heard there were some issues with the earlier PC ports of these titles, but the only fault I can find is that the sound is a little off. The music volume is very loud, and the effects are muted... it doesn't bother me really, but I'd prefer to be able to have a balance between the two.

Disappointing that M2 never got to finish their arcade garage series of Toaplan games, but I'm pretty happy with these ports, and would think twice about double dipping should M2 ever continue... hopefully, they'll move on to Raizing and bring us ports of Batrider and Bakraid.

Got some 1CCs in the last week:
  • Earthion
  • Salamander 2
  • Salamander 3
Salamander 2 was probably my favorite. I got down to a 2CC really quick, but it was tricky to get that down to a single credit. The last boss fight is so long, and I had so many close calls. I even died on him at the same time that I killed him. Insert quarter to watch the credits!

JAMMA shooties I been playin lately have been

Raiden Fighters
Aero Fighters
Strikers 1945 II
Strikers 1945 III

I think I like Strikers I & III better than II. Lovin Raiden Fighters. Just wish Fighters 2 & Jet were a lil more reasonably priced so I could vaguely justify grabbin boards of both
