Hey guys, I came across a free Dreamcast VGA adapter but when I hook it up I get no sound or video. Also the LED on it does not light up. I opened it up but didn't see any issues to the board at all. Does anyone have suggestions? Also, if needed, I can post pictures up but I just have to take them first. Thanks!

What games are you playing.
Not all are compatible.
The VGA boxes I've seen have to be plugged to a power source,
it could also be your power adapter.

Well it has:

S-Video output.
RCA A/V output.
VGA video output.
Two Stereo Headphone outputs.
Volume control.
VGA/TV modes.
Dreamcast A/V input.

No ac adapter port, but no matter what way I hook it up it just doesn't work.

Probably why it was free.

It should just be plug and play. Open it up and use a meter to check if it's getting voltage.

May be worth just buying a newer one if you're needing this, they're not much.

I don't really need it, but I gave someone an rf from another Dreamcast I had in exchange. I figured worst case I would be out an rf....boo hoo. My dad has a meter so I'll have him scope it out.

All that box does is switch which pins on the DC's AV port are grounded. Meaning there is very little that could be wrong with it.
Possibly the switch itself broke, so everything is being grounded. Also it's possible your DC AV out could have issues as well.
