Only thing I have that has actual disc rot is some HD-DVDs that you can see it just upon inspection.

This example of craziness, a random 1 track demo band cd I got like 17-18+ years ago I recovered and was like screw it lets see if this reads. In my modern pc I was able to rip the track with only a few skippy bad parts in the rip. Some other players couldnt even play it period. Just amazing despite the damage to the disc. Not sure if its rot 100% but surprising what these discs can go through and still be read.

Those dots are disc rot. Some of my Laserdiscs have the same issue but still play relatively fine.

Bought a HD DVD collection last year 1/3 of the movies was already gone. Especially the sealed ones.

Yeah, HD-DVD really is the most rot prone format ever. It makes LD look like the Voyager record.

But even then, it’s the factory, not the format. JP and EU HD-DVDs seem fine.

I've had a few cases of disc rot - they were all US Dreamcast games.
