Do backup 360 games still need to be SS patched?

I've been poking around to see if having a seperate core system for backups would be worthwhile, and can't find if you still have to patch every game... Do you?

None of the newsgroups say anything about patching, just burn and play...

Yep. Each game needs the Security Sectors in place.

The SS comes from each disc, right? Not from the system?

Right. You need to flash your drive with the Xtreme 800 firmware in order for your PC to be able to recognize it, then you extract the SS from each disc.

Make sure the SS you extract is placed with the same backup game.

OK, so say I already have a SS patched iso, can I use any dual layer DVD+R burner to burn it? I see you can flash certain Samsung drives with Kreon firmware to avoid jumping through hoops when ripping... Do you need a Kreon drive to burn with?
