Since I don't understand this stuff I'll ask this, "Why couldn't the US take control of the BP horizon oil tap?" Are they planning in the future to reopen that well? I know they are planning on drilling somewhere around that area again.

The well/tap is shot... You have to drill a hole new well.

I'm sure they are looking to extend contracts for that vein.

But the methane and natural gas is so out of whack that they will have to be more cautious.

Whatever happened to the oil that was sucked out, did the US get to keep that oil or did it go back to BP?

Just picked up a Honda Ruckus that I ride to work on nice days. Can go about 100 miles for $4.25. Another plus is it fits in the back of my car.

Gas station by my house is always packed since it sells it the cheapest at $3.60 a gallon.

Glad I live 2 blocks away from the light rail station. I'm only a train and short bus trip away from work and at $55 for a 31-day pass, that's a bargain these days.

Every morning I drive out to the beach, wring out a pelican, and take my newly found oil to the nearest refinery to have funds added to my BP card.

This baby here netted me 2 fillups

I just want a car that gets better fuel economy.

nissan-leaf-ev.jpg

My gf just got the leaf. 100 miles for a charge worth about $3-4 in electricity. Rides smooth and quiet. Makes sounds like Windows when booting up. Once they expand the charging network and evolve the batteries, these things will be the way to go anywhere.

Nothing like giant batteries to save the environment!

I need to get working on a steam powered car. Or someone more mechanically inclined then me so I don't blow myself up.

What did these people think was going to happen once the economy rebounded?

You've had 3 years to adjust your lifestyle. If you can't deal with it, here's a quarter.

It's not the price at the pump that bothers me...it's my groceries going from $110/week to $145/week...my summer power bill going from $175/mo to $245/mo and all of those lovely "fuel surcharges" I get to look forward to seeing on my cable bill, my cell phone bill and every other bill under the sun.

If $4/gal gas was the only way this would fuck my wallet...I wouldn't bitch. No, it's the $350/mo extra I'm going to have shelling out because everything is going to once again shoot through the roof.

You should broaden your scope of view a bit my friend...simply "not driving as much" or adjusting your lifestyle isn't going to save you jack-shit in the grand scheme of things when fuel hits record highs....

Yea, I've been noticing it more and more at the grocery store.
For the staple items that I usually pick up,
they've increased 20%-25%
I'm on a shoe string budget here so I've been noticing it.
A lot of people discounts the lower class/poor,
but I can't see how people can feed a family now a days.
Healthy food isn't affordable,
and the unhealthy food is rising in costs too.

Three years running now where we haven't turned on the AC at all, no matter how hot it got. That shit is too expensive. Water is a real balancing act, though. Got to water the lawn as little as possible without letting it die. :help:

I just can't do that...I have a 2 year old daughter and that's just too hot for her....it can easily get 80+ degrees in my house if the AC isn't on and opening up the windows won't help much. On top of that, I just can't fucking sleep when I'm laying in a pool of sweat...

Where I live (like many places in the US), it just doesn't change much in the dead of winter/summer concerning day and night. In the winter it will be a high of 18 and a low of 12...a whopping 6 degree swing. In the summer it will be 89 at peak, 76 at night...not enough to cool anything down enough to get to "sleeping range"...it's brutal.

I wish I was still married so I could leave the A/C on 60 degrees, 24/7. Loved base housing.

Heh, and I wish I wasn't married because my heat would be set to 50 in the winter and my AC would be set to 85 in the summer.

I actually considered all that.

But the local news media isn't featuring toothless wonders and fat rich white women complaining about food prices.

Grain prices have been rising without fuel. Fuel costs will increase it. But I haven't really noticed a food price change yet. Aldi ain't wit teh programme.

Around here, Pipes freeze if you don't keep it at 55.

The worst part is my fucking woman man.

She wants to keep it 76 all winter and 65 all summer.

In the summer I sleep in the basement, in the winter on the second floor. There's a 25 to 30 degree gradient in my house going from the bottom to the top.

Is that per gallon? we pay £1.31 per litre so thats about £6 per gallon so about $9.50 per gallon :(

A gallon is 3.78 liters in the US, not 4.54 like in UK though.

I've been waiting, and waiting for the this godforsaken weather to break so I can ride my bike to work this season. We had freaking snow on Monday, and freezing rain yesterday. I can always count on saving some good cash with my bicycle, so this shitty weather is extremely frustrating.

Me being a huge crackpot in many ways is convinced if you took a modern aerodynamic vehicle, you could run that thing on steam power (using either electric heating coils with batteries or natural gas as a heat source) and run a vehicle MUCH more efficiently then we do with current methods. But why would anyone spend the money to do that. Or risk disappearing.

Same here.

As a general rule, I've noticed women seem to be less tolerant of temps. My wife will bitch and moan anytime the temp isn't exactly 72 degrees. Every girl I've ever dated has been this exact same way also.

Well that makes sense because you're in a much smaller country. You can probably drive from end to end on half a tank.
