Anyone know of any? This could turn to be an interesting thread.

Obviously there's Mount Rushmore from FF2/Special.

I don't recall any stage based in any location of my country... surely is my lack of knowledge, or it could be the lack of importance of my country...
probably both

If you put Aruze in Japanese through the Google translator it comes out as Argentina. XD

I THINK...
the bridge with the line of traffic/cars in KOF 98 is based on a real life location too...

This site covers them all. (known so far!)
There are quite a few!
Well, this made me like 2001's backgrounds much more! Also, that HK tram near the bottom of the article/page? I assume that's the same type as seen in Lee's stage in AOF2?...

I was curious about the locations that look to be from Osaka in several games. Anyone familiar with the area and the backgrounds able to pin them down on a map along with SNK's headquarters?

Great site, thanks for the link.

I went to Seoul a few days ago and wanted to see Namdaemun solely because it was Kim's stage in FF2.

Unfortunately, this is its current status. You'd think after four years the damn thing woulda been fixed by now.

Agreed. And some of them were a bit half-assed. If they were really going to start using KotM games they could've gone through every level in the first one.

I personally love how stupid SNK's geography could be: my favorite was the inclusion of Mount Rushmore in Monument Valley in both KotM2 and FF2.

There's even sheep included, still Im not sure why sheep would be there. It's not like they roam around that area. It's a goddamn desert.

Radio City Music Hall appears in Seans SF3 stage. After seeing this, I' am now imagining a Street Fighter game with Don Pardo as announcer.

KoF97 has Koshien Stadium - the official stadium of the Hanshin Tigers (Osaka area's favorite baseball team). However, the game's stage looks more like a rave than a baseball field... maybe they dressed it up for the big event?

All these years playing the game and this is the first time I have noticed the fossil on the ground... WTF!?!?!

The sheep are there so that muscleman can do some "heavy petting". Obviously.

Anyways, I know that this WHP stage is based on a real spot in Japan.
