I have to agree, no new games really wow anymore. JRPGs are not as endearing as they were in the SNES era, fighters are... ok. There are some games Im looking forward to like the new Horizon Zero Dawn, and yeah the next GOW (I liked the 'reboot') and of course Elden Ring.
But even those games that I'm waiting for - they've all been done. Open world, standard actioner, etc. There's no feeling of wonder anymore. You're probably right, it may be that we're just getting old madman.
Also, I just *cant get into roguelikes. There is maybe 1 game I didn't mind, Dead Cells, and while I enjoyed Returnal, it started getting really repetitive when I couldn't get past a certain boss, so I stopped playing it. But other than that, roguelikes, stuff like online battle arenas, etc- just boring to me.
I find myself getting irritated because almost every game out there has to be this cinematic masterpiece with cutscenes that last an hour at the beginning of the game. I just want to play the game. I'll figure out what the buttons do. I dont need a tutorial level, and I don't need the *opening level* be a huge movie. Looking at you Guardians of the Galaxy..
