Found/Purchased top3000.

Hey guys,

I bought some 27C160 chips for a couple of projects that I wanted to do, but my cheap programmer + adapter doesn't program them and fails every time. Does anyone have a recommendation for a programmer than can handle a 42 pin DIP eprom out of the box? I'd prefer a used one to keep the costs down. If anyone has one they can sell, feel free to shoot me a PM.

Thanks.

Top3000 or top2049 are great out of the box for m27c160 and m27c322. Not Looking to part with mine but they're not terribly expensive.

The top3000 looked like the best bet for the money, so I went for one from Aliexpress. Thanks for the tip, guys.

In the future some Eastern European on eBay makes 27c160 adapters for the MiniPro. I bought one for ten shipped and it reads and writes zero issues. Considering 9/10 chips I burn are 27C160 or derivative it’s been a life saver for the price

Just look up “27C160 adapter” on ebay

Yup, I have one with the adapter (hinted to that in my main post), and it fails every single time on the latest XGPro firmware. I can’t downgrade the programmer to test it on older software either, so it’s a lost cause. I’ve also tested it on multiple computers with the same issue. It’s just easier to get a better programmer and call it a day.

Oh shit I’ll never upgrade my firmware then.

It isn’t just a pin detect issue though is it? I’ve seen where people have always had these chips fail with adapters and it’s just a check box issue. Doubtful in your case though
