You know I've been waiting on a good GB to snag a Capcom IO, so I'll be down for one of those please.

@Adderall - that looks to be the Sega NAOMI V.2 I/O which should be compatible (it has all the ports necessary).

@defor - Sorry, none of the Gundam games are available.

@Zangrief - it's going to be most closely compared to a 246/256 or NAOMI setup. If you don't have a JVS+ standard setup you will need an I/O to communicate with the mobo. The official Taito one looks like this:

It has your video out (VGA cable), your comm cable (USB), and your Audio out (R/W stereo jacks). AC cable powering MOBO is external. With the setup in the image you plug your supergun harness into the JAMMA edge and you should be good to go - all things being equal. Many folks with an X/X2 setup use the NAOMI converter as it's cheaper (and it's pretty hearty with it's metal housing).

What type of monitor would I need? I'm guessing it wouldn't work on a CRT 'old' tv. HDTV? Computer monitor? Just wanting to know if I could play it before getting a (candy, likely) cab.

Most cabs they are in use a HD LCD monitor - though they definitely work in CRT style arcade monitors. I believe it outputs both 15 and 31khz.

Here are the video out specs from system16: 640×480 (VGA), 1280×720 (HDTV 720p), 1920×1080 (HDTV 1080p)

I want to say it would output on a CRT w/supergun...but it's a guess. Ideally someone whom has done it can confirm / deny.

From what I've read, the Type X2 is 640x480 at 31k or 1280x720 HD only. You would need a trisync CRT that supports 31k or an LCD.

This may be a dumb question, but I am assuming this is just the MB and you would still need ram and a GPU?

Nah, should be full setups. There are different revisions though
http://wiki.arcadeotaku.com/w/Taito_Type_X²

"The majority of software requires an Elsa Gladiac 979GS (a Japanese GeForce 7900GS) to run. NVIDIA-branded GeForce 7900GS video cards are known to work when reflashed with the firmware from the 979GS. The more popular titles (Street Fighter IV, BlazBlue, King of Fighters XIII) will only run with the 979GS (or a reflashed 7900GS) installed. They will not function with a different card, such as the ATI card that came in the earlier models or the 9800GT which came in other models."
