How much should I pay for a Neo 29 Candy cab?

Looking to buy this, found one locally. It's in used condition and extremely yellowed, but fully functional and the screen seems to be in good nick.

Make sure the jamma loom hasn't been messed up and if there is any screen burn.

As far as the discoloration, dont worry about it. The things I would check are mainly the condition of the monitor (is it nice and bright, no screen burn), and is the loom in good shape (mine was hacked all to heck).

As far as the art, the sideart and control panel have been reproduced and can be purchased.

Give them an offer what's reasonable then with the remaining money you can restore it to it's former glory.

Agree with others. I recently paid $613 for one. But it included a 1-slot and puzzle bobble. It was yellowed, needed work, new locks & marquee light bulb. The other day I noticed some screen burn in most likely caused by the 1-slot and puzzle bobble. The cab was was used in a bowling alley. Didn't notice the burn in until I swapped the 1-slot out with a 4-slot & games.

but thats the going midwest USA rate.

i find the prices vary wildly depending on location.

Speaking of Neo Candies. Does anyone know what the molex adapter on the suckers are called? I know it isn't an AMP, and I thought I found some (JVL) but when they came in I realized they were for the Naomi boards and won't work. I have the original ones for two of them, but need to redo all of the wiring on them, but I am lacking the third.

A cab locally on Cyprus, man how did that even get there in the 1st place. Considering how much it'd cost to freight in one of these things from the mainland, I'd say don't hesitate to go up for 350 euros.

Im in Tennessee as well, was curious if you bought it at an estate auction or an actual arcade auction. When I lived in FL they held arcade auctions in orlando but I'm not too sure about TN. Thanks in advance

I bought the Neo at the arcade auction in Kingsport. Was a Super Strikers 2 conversion with a shitty americanized panel. Need to finish stripping the panel, and have an extra naomi board to sell now. But the cab for the most part (minus the CP shroud) is in good shape.

I haven't snagged it yet, just mentioned my interest to the guy so far. He said "im sure we can work something out" This is the same operator I found recently that had that loose aes cart among his MVS games.

Yes.. The arcade scene here in Cyprus was massive man. I live in larnaca but over in nicosia, limassol and paphos I've probably seen over 100 candy cabs throughout the years, Neos, Astro citys, Blast cities..Capcom cabs.. heck there's even a massive Sega Fire Fighters down the street from me and a time crisis The bad thing about where I am.. most of the arcade ops just built their own woody machines for standalone games. Racing and lightgun still had their own cads though.

So regarding the candies.. they probably bought in bulk and had some good deals on the shipping, I mean whats the difference from getting them shipped to any other country considering they all come from Japan?

The thing is.. here in Cyprus retro collectors are a rare breed.. arcade collectors even more so.. I wouldn't be surprised if there was less than 5 people on the whole island that collect MVS carts like me..

So I'm afraid that whatever I spend on it.. I wouldn't be able to sell it on in the future. I mean it is stuck here on Cyprus.. so this is something I need to take into consideration if I make an offer. I envy you guys that actually have an active market for arcade cabs

So I'm afraid that whatever I spend on it.. I wouldn't be able to sell it on in the future. I mean it is stuck here on Cyprus.. so this is something I need to take into consideration if I make an offer. I envy you guys that actually have an active market for arcade cabs

jonny, don't think of this as an investment that you will be able to get your money back on someday. Like most forms of Collecting You'll probably never be able to get back what you put into it. You get that cab, play it until it dies, and when it is unrepairable, then you sell it for parts.

These are OLD video games, if they mean something to you, isn't that worth it?

Edit: I saw in your original post you were thinking of offering 250 euros, just did the conversion and saw that was about $330. As for me, I would buy any official candy cab (snk, sega whatevs) IN A HEARTBEAT for $330.

jonny, don't think of this as an investment that you will be able to get your money back on someday. Like most forms of Collecting You'll probably never be able to get back what you put into it. You get that cab, play it until it dies, and when it is unrepairable, then you sell it for parts.

The cab would definitely be more difficult to move, but I'm sure that even in the worst case scenario you could part out pieces.
