The cart has been modified so battery swaps will be easy. Just pop out and install a fresh battery. No soldering.

I'm just wondering what the current market value is for a Street Fighter 3: Third Strike CPS3 (JPN).

Unfortunatly it's just the motherboard, CD Rom drive, and the disc w/ cart.

That's everythiing you'd need to play though isn't it? Other than a cab with kick harness of course. I'm interested... but i'm sure tons of others are as well. PM me your asking price when it comes to that.

Correct. There are 2 versions as well Ver. A which has unblockables and Ver. B which is like the Dreamcast/PS2 Version, no unblockables.

Would you mind taking pictures of the modded part of the cartridge. I'm interested in how this mod was done and what the final product looks like.

I have tape over the battery to prevent it from accidentally popping out. The cart has been modified so there is no soldering that needs to be done to replace the battery.

I can get a better photo later.

I see, so there's some sort of battery holder under that tape that has been surface mounted to the cartridge face. That is reasonably intelligent, as long as you remember to do the switching with it powered on.

One more question, when you power on and it shows the black screen with red text... is it version 990512 or 990608?

What's the difference?

Capcom version numbers are the release dates. so 990512 was released May 12th 1999. It's also known as the v.A or v.1. As sneek mentioned v.A has unblockables, v.B does not. v.A is the one most people are familiar with and want to play.

So officially what's the street value on this thing? I might have one to sell in a couple days for the right price.

Not exactly a ton of sales to make references to lately, but judging from the sitting time on this one, less than $500.
