Is it just me or do shoryukens look really lame?

I think they ESPECIALLY look lame in the early SFs, I mean, they jump up with their knee high and their arm extended up. I think its lame. Not only that but hadoukens as well. What I THINK is cool is when Iori rips someone's heart out and watches them drown in their own pool of blood. That is cool.

Sarah, I somewhat agree with you. The Ken/Ryu Dragon Punches never really spectacular to me, but they were what I seen and used first, as most others as well, therefore there is a classic and sentimental attachment to the Dragon Punch, no matter how dull it looks.

I mean, look at Haohmaru's.... his sword will slice you wide open.
Look at Hanzou's.... a Dragon Spirit protects his entire body.

Compare to some other DPs, Ryu's and Ken's are pretty boring, but it's the history of their DPs that I at least, have come to respect.

Hmmm...maybe if the Shotokan practiconers's Shoryuken looked different between the fighters it wouldn't be so bad. Sean's Dragon Smash (Prior to 3rd Strike...) looked awesome (Especially that second hit!) when compared to the Dragon Punch and I liked Sakura's CvS Shooken better than the Zero version. Hell, Sagat's Tiger Blow was cooler just for the roar. The ShinShoryuken's the only cool variation of the Dragon Punch as far as Ryu, Ken, and Akuma goes. Just see Ryu Dragon Punch with his face toward the screen for a change makes it the best; even if the damage was crap; which it isn't.

Looks lame? KEN'S FUCKING FIST IS ON FIRE!!! When SSF2 came out that was some gnarly shit!

I actually always thought Ryo and Robert's dragon punches looked lame, even though I love them (my first Neo Geo game was a AoF MVS that my grandfather had in his store).

But if you really want a lame "dragon punch" type attack, look not further than Cammy.

I think Ryo's DP "Koho" in CvS is lame, second to Terry's DP "Power Dunk". What in the world is Capcom doing to SNK's 2 powerhouses......?

Oh well, I will always have Ryo's Zenretsuken crossup I've done on every CvS game. Screw Shoto type play.

Shoryuken? Lame? Far be it from that!

It's what you'd call a simple yet very useful attack. And to say nothing of how the Shin Shoryuken looks like... it's definitely what the move was made to be.

To quote something I read before, "... you can see the look on Ryu's face that he's actually putting all that training into that single attack." --> Shin Shoryuken

kyo's oniyaki in CVS2 has little priority but still effective.i noticed that terry's rising tackle has little priority as well.especially in KOF where those 2 above mentioned moves are monsters.

Sean's 3rd Strike dragon smash.

I think Sean is the NEW Kyo Kusanagi. Still one of my favorite characters.

Sean still owns the original SF3.
