EDIT: New run, this time I only lost one life during my battle through stage 6. Then on stage 7 I quickly lost a life after getting double-teamed by skeletons. Then stupidly lost my last life against the two gold knights, because I wasn't being careful enough trying to maneuver them to get knocked off the ledge.

In the OP it says three lives, so I just thought my settings were off. If so, then scrap my earlier score Tyranix and I'll throw up another when I get off work.

Ok, so for the uninitiated, the main way to score in arcade Golden Axe is to perform magic "rekills".

After an enemy is killed, you need to use your magic to juggle them before they hit the ground.

This obviously changes the approach to the game by now having a large focus on elf and potion proximity. There are situations in the game where you can set up huge scoring opportunities. I.E have four potions on the ground and one in stock, soften up three enemies with regular attacks, kill one of them with a regular attack, potion juggle (this potion killing the other two in the process), grab the other potion on the ground, potion juggle, grab the other bottle, potion juggle, grab the other one, potion juggle.

So instead of getting three kills, you'd wind up with 18 if I understand correctly. I was able to pull off more rekilling in this run, but nothing extreme.

It usually takes more than one run to get a taste of what kind of game you're dealing with. Have patience.

I used to play it a lot in the arcade along time ago that's why I voted for it, to be honest playing for score is ruining it for me, I used to just play to complete

ill maybe try later and not care about scoring just playing, the score will be what it is

I'm going to have to wait to join the competition because i got some final tests coming up in a few weeks. I don't think i will make it far beyond stage 3 anyway. Those skelly's are a pain to deal with.

1. Lure them toward you by walking up and down on the vertical plane. When they're close enough do an early neutral jump attack.

2. Drop out.

Is it just me or is the arcade version of this game inferior to the Genesis port? The game just feels slow and unresponsive to me.
