I acquired some more SDRAM for my computer about a month ago, from Memory Man. They botched my order, so I convinced them to give me free shipping, and added a very heavy heatsink/fan combo to the order for a friend.

The heatsink/fan combo was a ThermalTake Dragon Orb 3. Very fancy looking, but given average ratings by hardware reviewers. No problem, it was just needed for standard cooling purposes, and not for an overclocked machine.

Two weeks later, BOOM! Complete and utter fan failure. Which might not be so bad, but with the unique cylindrical design of the heatsink/fan combo, only specialised fans can be used on the heatsink! So basically, we are returning the defective piece of crap for a refund.

It seems that ThermalTake actually has a reputation for fan failure on their set-ups, as we found out from some additional research after the fact. <IMG SRC="smilies/ohno.gif" border="0"> If you are considering getting any sort of cooling solution from ThermalTake, think again.
