For SK, it would be a nightmare reintegrating North Koreans into South Korean society and taking the economic brunt that would be modernizing NK. However, they will choose to accept NK if the other option is China taking it over. America has SK's back if China decides to go to war, which won't happen because even the party doesn't want to destroy all life on Earth.

My slimmer of hope is that this pandemic is a wakeup call to the world and move many of the manufacturing out of China (either bring it back home or just spread it around). This requires significant investments and will also remove China's singular advantage, making them less arrogant by hurting their bottom line.
