I had no idea King of Fighters had been released on Gameboy.

This was a very common game in the US when it came out. Dirt common, crap bin common. I think I paid $15 new for it.

But I didn’t know that there was a “PAL” (what?) version that at least one person on earth thinks is worth $400.

I just bought a cart only copy of KOF ‘95 on AES for £66 on Ebay. Cool story I know.

I bought it when it first came out and still have it; I think it was $30. I loved that you could play 2P on a TV with Super Gameboy. All my younger brother would do is corner trap juggle me with Ralf's Vulcan Punch which was nearly impossible to escape.

It’s a good port
Indeed. Until the NGP came out I was happy with it. Once I had the NGP though…I sold it. It cannot hold a candle, as they say, the crappy ass Gameboy, to the NGP.

I’m…confused.

1: All GBs are the same and none are PAL or NTSC or anything like it. They don’t output any video at all.

2: ESRB ratings are only for US and Canadian releases, right?

3: KOF 95’ (GB) US is dead common, right?

I’m not a Gameboy big tymer so please excuse my ignorance. On the surface this looks like a game marked up 5-10 times it’s actual worth.

The game is likely the same as North America, but, the manual may be multi-lingual. I've never purchased European Gameboy games, but, I have some Game Gear ones--my European Sonic Triple Trouble cart came with a hilariously thick manual because it has so many different language translations in it. GB KOF '95 may be much less common in Europe too, I dunno, but, yeah, the price seems absurd.

"CIB" Game Boy stuff in the US is bonkers right now. You can get loose carts of many games for "cheap" but the CIB editions are rising in collector market value very, very quickly. I don't think this price is too off base.

A good example of this is Ninja Gaiden Shadow Warriors or Bubble Ghost. A loose cart won't set you back too much these days, but CIB will be much, much more.

The cheapest way to get this or many other GB games are Japanese imports. There is no region lock on any GB variant so far as I'm aware. This CIB US stuff is for the shelf collector market.

I scooped the US version back in the day for 5 bucks, loose cart only. As far as GB fighting games go, it's actually pretty fun.
