I can agree and disagree with the above statements. I really like some of the new moves they've added to some of the characters in '99, but some characters got changed for the worse. For example, Terry Bogard's "Lightening Tackle" move getting made into a charge up move (as compared to the upper-cut motion in '98 to pull off) I think really bites. Also, how in the hell do you pull off his "Power Dunk" in '99? I've seen the computer do it, but I haven't had any luck with it.
Robert Garcia is another change made for the worse. Not only did they regress in his cool appearance (going back to his old duds instead of his cool blue jacket), but they made almost all his moves charge up type moves. Why?! He was already devastating, did they want to cripple him up or something? I don't get it...
As for the new characters, I like them a lot for the most part. Particularly K' and Jhun. Maxima leaves a little to be desired, but maybe he'll get polished up in '2K. I still miss getting to play as Team USA from '98, and not to mention the totally awesome New Face Team as well.
One thing I definitely don't care a lot for in '99 is the lack of stages. '98 had six, '99 has five. Again, why? Granted the stages look great (especially the rain stage, beautiful!), but I can't understand why they'd drop the number of stages. And just a petty gripe here: Kryzalid can never be as cool as Rugal. Rugal is almost the epitomy of badass villains (though Geese Howard is his superior), and it was a shame to see pretty much a "psychotic K'" as the last boss.
I know I'm getting anxious as hell waiting on KOF '2K, is anybody else?
