It's probably just lifted from BitMaps Metal Slug book... I mean, if there are any Metal Slug facts or stories not featured in that bloody great book, then they're probably not worth knowing about.

Hell, with all the available info in regards to Metal Slug 1, anybody could write a mini book about that game's history. Seriously, MS1 might be the most well-documented game in the series!

Doubt there's anything new in this article... Retro Gamer exhausted its originality a long time ago, and just keeps recycling stories they've already covered. I stopped reading it years ago, because I was bored of reading the same shit twice.

At this point I end up checking Diehard Game fan archives, the magazines covered a lot of NG games in high print quality in the 90s.

I still have a few hard copies but you can access them via archive.org and search.
