what are the important specs/details to look for when reading the specs of a monitor?

im looking at resolution, contrast ratio, response time, pixel pitch, etc etc and have no idea what any of these really mean and what numbers are good or bad to have in each category. looking for a 22 or 24 inch size if that makes a difference:help:

You want the highest resolution you can get, although something standard (1280x1024, 1280x720, 1920x1080) definitely helps.

Response time should be below 8ms if you're going to be running high-resolution games.

The contrast ratio should be as high as possible, 1000:1 is good for most purposes (if you needed good colors you'd be looking at a CRT).

Yes, they're a Taiwanese company (a branch of Acer).
