It better be coming out on 360, that's all I will say.

So this must be something different from MGS: Ground Zeroes? The game looks too good to be current-gen (like Watch Dogs). MGS:V, if it's a seperate title, is probably a 720 or PS4 game.

I'm thinking this is just some fancy marketing for Ground Zeroes and that Moby Dick Studios doesn't exist.

i was about to ask about that studio. If snakes it ill buy it upon release.

I can see it coming out on this generation of consoles. MG4 came out how long ago and i think its still one of the best looking games this gen.

Why can't we just let naked snake and solid snake rest in peace.

Gotta love Kojima. Now the drama about his putting out more Metal Gears is another issue (one which I'm fine with). Regardless, you can never say he does the same old same old. The guy innovates and surprises me with each new entry into the series. Looking forward to this game.

In the last few frames, you can see what looks like a shadow figure of Psycho Mantis. The flaming unicorn and whale might be hallucinations caused by him. It's Kojima, so mind fucks are expected.

This is my guess as well. The trailer is some kind of hallucination induced by a psychic.

Maybe an attempt by someone to get inside the head of 'the greatest soldier' and find out what makes the man tick? It would all make sense with the whole 'Les Enfants Terrible' concept. You can clone a soldier's body, but VR training has proven that it takes more than muscle memory and developed instincts to replicate perfection. But you throw a guy like Big Boss into a mental shredder, make him think he's at the end of the line and see what he does...maybe you learn something about the guy.

Of course, that's just what *I* think would make for a good story and a nice addition to the MG mythology. Doesn't mean that's what's happening. Could be that Big Boss, or even Solid Snake, really is in a VA hospital with only one arm and it's being attacked by crazy people and flaming whales.

I don't know, man. I didn't see any set pieces in the trailer. What year does Kojima think this is?

I saw the new Tomb Raider trailer and saw all the set pieces and explosions and all I could think was 'I wonder when the QTEs will come up?' It's just her killing mercenaries in some jungle and falling off cliffs. Oh, and a lot of typical movie dialogue like 'You can't save everyone!', 'I have to do this!', 'I'm coming for you!' and that sort of typical Hollywood movie stuff. I must be a hermit because I don't know anyone that hears that kind of a dialogue in a trailer and gets a chubby over it. Most people just laugh.

At least this Phantom Pain trailer looks like it's following a theme, and not pandering to the audience.

I don't know if this has been mentioned yet, but "Phantom Pain" is the pain that amputees feel in limbs that are no longer there. It is said to be excruciating at times and there is nothing you can do about them.

Ex: calf cramp in your amputated leg.

If I had to venture a guess, it's going to be Liquid (his hand was given to Ocelot, from what I remember) waking up from a coma and NOT being dead, pissed off about his hand/arm and either Ocelot or one of his enemies is coming to get Liquid.

I'm sure it'll be garbage and stupid, just like everything else after the "tanker" storyline in MGS2.

Thanks for the Phantom Pain reference. I didn't know it had a clinical name, but it's absolutely true.

Hmm...the symbolism of something hurting even though it's no longer there.

What if this is just another trailer for Ground Zeroes with a clever name? At the end of that trailer, a guy that looked a lot like Solid Snake was sneaking around and a spotlight caught him.

Maybe they captured him and did stuff? Or they're fucking with his mind to learn secrets?

Lots of really great directions for them to go in, but they'll probably pick something completely different and just have 45 minutes of enemies talking in front of a New York landmark.

Regardless, that new Fox engine is turning out some amazing looking games. Although, personally, I'm more excited for Ground Zeroes than...whatever this will end up being.

I don't know why,but your last paragraph had me laughing out loud. Something about considering for a second that the trailer was literal.

I rewatched the trailer again, and replayed a bunch of the scenes over and over to try and look for any pieces to make anymore sense of what is happening.

Right off the bat, during the car crash both the "snake" character and the other individual are in same clothes they are in throughout the trailer. Also, look at what is flying around...shit loads of pills

UK Flag on the wall, I am guessing this would imply location, but the doctors accent is not any accent that would match the location.

"snake" wakes up and while looking at his prosthetic you can see a few flower petals floating around too. Similar to those in MGS3

Throughout the first part of the trailer there is a lot smoke in the air, but I don't think it is smoke, I think it is fog. I'm guessing the "snake" character is still hazy and unsure what is going on.

When "Snake" and the other guy are going down the hall they see what looks to me like a small child waiting by the elevator.

The sound effects are very distorted as well throughout the first half or so of the trailer, gun shots sound off and their is a lot of just odd sounds.

There is that one soldier who is on fire, the second time you see him he looks like he has long hair, almost like Liquid.

Obviously the unicorn and the whale.

I would take a guess that it is one snake or another, but I don't recall any of them ever losing an arm or being showcased with a missing arm. Then again the trailer does not seem grounded in reality. Judging from the end shot of Snake he looks like the Snake from Ground Zeroes, which could indicate it V may be a sequel to it, but who knows really.

The NeoGAF link has a much better analysis than I could ever propose.

Maybe this is all PTSD stuff for Naked Snake?
