I am going to be making a few SGs soon and I had the idea of building SG related parts inside of a quality stock sticks like hori... Here is my basic idea.

Here is the PCB inside the hori GC stick... since connecting JAMMA to this might cause problems if done in parallel, I will cut original leads and connect them to switches so I can choose to have GC functionality, while OFF it would allow use for SG:

Is this a good idea? I should have 2 more sticks to work with (Agetec DC sticks) that I will apply this idea to.

I did a wiring job similar to the one you mention with a Real Arcade Pro stick by Hori. If you see on the top left there are switches for auto fire on each button. I had to disconnect those switches from the wires and reconnect those wires directly to the buttons to keep the compatibility for both PS2/Supergun (it interfered with the grounding of some buttons otherwise) - slightly inconvenient but still doable if you run into a similar roadblock yourself.

Something you may want to consider: I chose an 8 button setup so I could use the top 4 buttons for Neo Geo and still have a 6 button setup for capcom games. If you go with a joystick that only has 6 buttons you won't be able to comfortably use your stick for Neo games.
