Undefeatable - yes, more Cynthia Rothrock! This is one of those so bad it's good flicks, from HK director Geoffrey Ho, a man with a rather questionable reputation as a filmmaker to say the least.

The script is garbage, the plot is flimsier than one of fami's garage doors, and despite the fact she's no Meryl Streep, the only person who can act in the whole film is Rothrock. However, the film's bad guy is a total whacko with a perm that even Kevin Keegan (google him) would die for, and the fight scenes are great, and there's plenty of them - literally every other scene.

If you enjoy watching terrible movies like Samurai Cop or Miami Connection, Undefeatable will be right up your street.

One Battle After Another
PT Anderson's (very) loose adaptation of Pynchon's Vineland. (His adaptation of Pynchon's Inherent Vice stuck pretty close to the novel.) The movie starts with thirty minutes of exposition, showing a group of radical leftists (Weather Underground types) as they get increasingly reckless and eventually get got. I was so bored I thought I might give up, but I'm glad I didn't. Once it picks up, it's a pretty intense three-way chase between a white supremacist Army man, the revolutionaries protecting a half-black daughter of ex-militant Leonardo DiCaprio, and Leo himself. Like a lot of Pynchon stuff, there's a lot of bizarre humor, ridiculous characters (I hate Sean Penn but he is great as Army Man), and secret societies. It's worth a watch, but it doesn't really move the needle for 2025 being a mediocre-at-best year for movies, IMO.

Together (2025)

Body horror supernatural kind of thing, with voodoo stuff going on. The leads are likable enough though the main guy is a bit wet and pathetic. It sways between serious and comedy uneasily but it's forgivable, mainly because the horror sections are quite horrific and I did laugh a bit at a joke.

There are some unexpected tits.

I liked it, though the end was too much for me, but then I didn't like the end of The Substance either.

The Ugly Stepsister- Didn’t know much going into this. It’s a Swedish horror comedy that’s a twist on Cinderella. Equal parts psychological and body horror with some really dark humor. If you ever wondered what cosmetic surgery was like back in the 1700’s this has got you covered.

I thought it was really well done, excellent acting and it looked great, also an oddly suitable synthwave score. I’ve seen people compare it to The Substance but it’s not nearly that crazy, still gross and fairly shocking though. Worth a watch but not for the squeamish.

Predator Badlands:

It was... ok? But they basically insulted the Yautja the entire way through, basically turning the "new guy" into a pussy that 'needs help.' Didn't really care about the design of the main character "Dek." Way I see it, we all look different from each other, so why wouldn't different Yautja be the same and look different from each other.

Ending was dumb.

Also, Elle Fanning has a nice ass.

Der Tiger - Definitely not about a tiger but a german tank crew on a perilous journey to retrieve a commander stuck behind enemy lines... or so it seemed. The movie is pretty barebones on plot but the battle scenes were pretty cool if you are into tanks and shit like me. That's about 95% of the film with the last 5% confusing and with an ending so abrupt I thought the streaming service app on my TV just crashed. Could have been so much more but alas, also they tried very hard to keep swastikas out of view which I found odd.

*known as "The Tank" everywhere else.

Constantine- Not as good as I remembered it but still pretty cool. It fits well with Hellboy and Blade as darker and less mainstream comic adaptations in the pre comic movie boom era. Kind of surprised it didn’t get a sequel. Good casting, some cool action, lore and atmosphere. The story is a little weak and a lot of the CG looks bad but it’s still a pretty enjoyable movie.

Tiger Claws - first in a trilogy of martial arts action films all starring Cynthia Rothrock and Jalal Merhi.

Again, perhaps as one would expect, the plot is about as original as a fami sales pitch, but there's plenty of solid fight scenes to keep you entertained for 90 minutes, plus the bad guy is Bolo Yeung. The acting in this one isn't too bad, a lot better than anything in Undefeatable, but Merhi comes across a bit wooden, and his accent is quite thick.

Also has one of the most OTT car explosions I've seen for a while - you'd think it'd leave a crater the size of a small nuclear bomb.

Looking forward to checking out the sequels.

I always liked this one, the casting is interesting because it almost seems like they cobbled together roles played by the actors in other films.

A gender bendery Tilda Swinton role.

Keanu plays Neo as if he just got the Exorcisms floppy disk uploaded in the Construct.

Shia LaBoof plays the same hapless sidekick-y guy, pretty much exactly as he did in I,Robot and I'm sure some others I haven't seen.

The Lucifer guy I really only know from his role as the crazy Russian on Mir in Armageddon. I like the portrayal though.

And Gavin Rossdale? Unexpected but certainly looks great in a pinstripe suit.

I have a soft spot for Rachel Weisz, the movie has some heart, and I watch it for a bit if I ever happen across it.

Good TNT movie.

I must've missed it... did Fami finally have an autistic meltdown when Jokic got hurt?

pfft fine. don't come crying when you have issues with your garage door and no one on the forum can help you. you made your bed.
YouTube can literally teach you how to do this minus the angsty gayness. There is no downside.

Peter Stormare. Hes actually Swedish, I literally found that out when checking to make sure I spelled the last name right. Hes an awesome character actor. Great bit parts in almost everything, and of course he was in Fargo as the "I want to go to pancakes house." guy.

Tak finally had enough of being called a nazi bigot.

Uhhhh... yeah, the Germans don't take kindly to that. Tak seems like a strange choice though. I'm going with Jokic-related meltdown.
