New thread time. With Summer League happening, last season is officially dead.

P.S. Go LV Aces. They're kicking ass and taking names in the WNBA right now. Aja Wilson is setting records left and right, and should be getting the spotlight that Caitlin Clark is getting if you ask me.

So far the Nuggets have lost Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Justin Holiday, and Reggie Jackson at the guard position and replaced them with nobody this offseason.

So that's not ideal. Currently only have 4 guards on the roster and one of them is not even G-League level (Jalen Pickett).

Westbrook replaces Reggie Jackson, assuming the Nuggets actually do get him. But Jackson played 82 games for the Nugs last season and was completely broken down by the end of the year. Westbrook is two years older than Reggie and had surgery during the season last year.

Plus they've still gone from KCP/Braun/Holiday/Strawther as the SG depth to just Braun/Strawther. They only have one roster spot left and it has to go to Russ or another PG.

The team has to figure out a way to dump off Zeke Nnaji, Hunter Tyson, and Jalen Pickett. They're all horrible players on multi-year contracts.

And they have DaRon Holmes as a dead weight roster spot this year, having torn his achilles in the first Summer League game. And DeAndre Jordan is a glorified coach taking up yet another roster spot. So that's 5/15 main roster spots going to guys that are 100% unplayable.

The Nugs have a decent top 10 and literally nothing behind them
PG: Jamal Murray, (presumably Westbrook)
SG: Christian Braun, Julian Strawther
SF: Michael Porter Jr, Peyton Watson
PF: Aaron Gordon, Vlatko Cancar
C: Nikola Jokic, Dario Saric

If one of those guys gets hurt, we're completely fucked.

If Strawther doesn't take a big step from his play last year, we're completely fucked. He's had an excellent Summer League, but Summer League doesn't really matter. It's only relevant if they suck during Summer League.

I don’t think Murray’s knees going to make the full season. They been working Jokic like a farm horses the last couple of seasons he might breakdown at some point as well . They should try to moved MPJ for something like Austin reeves he more durable and can give you 20+ a night .

Jokic doesn't jump. I'm not super worried about his health because he moves slowly and doesn't leave the ground. He's proven extremely durable to this point in his career.

Murray and Porter are both huge injury risks, though. Glass cannons.

Westbrook helps them with rim pressure and pace which were both big problems off the bench last year. But he doesn't help them at all with three point shooting, which is where they lost quite a bit (KCP, Holiday, Jackson).

So I like Westbrook as a Jackson replacement but not replacing Holiday and KCP is a huge, huge problem.

Their chances could be better but it's entirely dependent upon Julian Strawther taking a big jump forward an Vlatko Cancar having his best year ever coming off an ACL injury.

Signing Saric and Westbrook does address two massive issues for the Nugs last year. Saric is by a wide margin the best backup center the Nugs have had in the Jokic era, and they absolutely needed a 2nd unit floor general. It's just that the depth has gotten so much worse that they have no margin for error. If Murray gets hurt (and he usually does) there's absolutely nobody behind Westbrook at all.

I hate that you have any optimism about westbrook

I don't have any optimism that he'll suddenly be a different player than he has been the last three years. It's just that the few remaining things he's good at are things the Nuggets really need. He still can't shoot worth a shit and he's not a useful off-ball player so he'll have to play the overwhelming majority of his minutes with Jokic off the floor.

Nature is healing.

The only thing in all of human history where we can collectively say "This is much better with John Tesh's music."
