I'd argue that it's in the league's best interest financially for the Lakers to be the 'face' of the organization.

It was the Bulls in the 90s because of Mike and especially that second threepeat.

But without Mike or the ability to continue to draw stars to the midwest, the Bulls aren't really a suitable rep for the league.

The Lakers have had the mystique of greatness for a very long time because they're west coast glamour and have a propaganda machine behind them with Hollywood media promoting them. And let's face it, LA is the perfect destination for rich people with huge egos.

The Lakers are to the NBA what Hulk Hogan was the to 80s/early 90s WWF.

Incredibly profitable for the league and very popular with the fanbase, but a total douchebag that unfairly suppresses all the competition to stay that way.

The NBA is a business first and foremost. If you don't think wheels are greased and money isn't passed in brown paper bags to make things happen you're naive. Happens in all major sports, it's no conspiracy.

KAT has the season of his life and the Knicks fleeced the Timberwolves pretty bad. But the Luka trade is the worst trade in history.

Jokic is currently on pace to shatter the all time single season records for player efficiency rating and box plus/minus.

He is presently having the #2 season in NBA/ABA history for win shares per 48, behind only Kareem Abdul-Jabbar in the 1971-72 season.

imagine getting buttblasted about MVP ladder rankings in fucking mid-February :sweaty:
Doesn't matter what time of year it is. Jokic deniers are basketball flat earthers at this point, they need to be ridiculed out of existence.

Jokic is literally having the greatest offensive season any player has ever had right now. Motherfucker is averaging a 30 point triple double on ridiculous efficiency. The gap between him and the rest of the league is growing and every time the media tries to hold up another clown as his peer it just becomes more and more absurd.

Several big players are calling for a suspension of the All-Star game, primarily for reasons the fans agree with. It's now just for show, not competitive at all, and is just unnecessary.

I wish they'd just extend that attitude to the current NBA in general.

The NBA should be ashamed with the product they put on during the break, especially compared to the fantastic Four Nations tournament the NHL is doing.

Correct. That's completely consistent with what I just said.

The NHL decided to do something good instead of an All Star Game. The NBA decided to do an All Star Game and it was embarrassing.
You were saying it was pointless to try any changes which would have robbed us of the Four Nations tournament. The NBA and NFL All Star games are not beyond saving but they need a lot of work
