I was saying the All Star format is pointless and retarded. Four Nations is an entirely different concept that they did instead of an All Star Game, and it worked out great because of it. Four Nations is literally just them doing the break they would normally take for the Winter Olympics, but having the tournament themselves.

It wouldn't work in the NFL because there are only two countries that could even field a team. It could be done in the NBA, though. There are enough Canadians, Australians, and Frenchmen to have a four team tournament.

I think it should be home court advantage in the Finals. Whichever conference wins gets home court, regardless of record.

If greed is what does it, the NBA pays a 20% bonus to the players on the team that wins for whatever they're earning that year (not the whole contract).

There will never be stakes. Home field for the world series did absolutely nothing to make players give a shit about the MLB All Star game. Because most players know their team isn't a real contender to begin with and nobody gives a shit about conference pride or whatever.

The reason Four Nations works is because the players have a natural affinity for their home countries and they don't want to disappoint their people. There is no way to replicate that with teams based on conferences or teams picked by TV show hosts or any other stupid bullshit. If the players don't have a natural allegiance to each other they're not going to play like a team; if there are no tangible stakes for every guy on the roster they're never going to play hard. Especially on defense.

All Stars are rarely chosen from non-contending teams. Unfair to the players, but that's the way it is. That makes home court matter more. Home court also has a greater effect on the game than baseball does.

There are a maximum of 6 teams that are actual contenders in any given year. Usually more like 3. And the players all know when it's not their team.

In the entire history of the NBA, every team that has ever won a championship was
1. a top 3 seed
and/or
2. the defending champions from the prior season

The only two that weren't a top 3 seed were Bill's last dance Celtics and Hakeem's Rockets. And again, both were defending champs going into the season (and the Rockets got Drexler at the deadline to boot).

Every once in a great while, a lower seed in the weaker conference makes it to the Finals. And then they invariably get their fucking asses whooped.

The first team to give up 100 points has to let WNBA players peg them all. Including the coaches.

If neither team gives up 100 points, no pegging occurs.

Defense will return.

In fact, just make it a rule for the entire season.

-Scrap the whole contract system and make the players play for wins. 2 million a win, 100k a loss. Scale it based on the talent of the players.
-Less teams, 10 teams each conference.
-Less games, make the season 30 games.
-10 minute 1/4s. No long ass half time. Get the whole thing over within an hour and a half.
-Move the 3 point line back, curve it into the sideline, eliminate the corner 3.
-Bring back hand checking, less offense, more defense.

If someone came in and created a rival league along those lines, the NBA would have a problem on it's hands.

NCAA is better to watch then some nba games, it’s pathetic top players start to shake hands and hugging,whispering in each other ears of get together after the games when there time left in the clock . Mother fucker need to learn to play to win games not put in some mediocre effort and get paid millions.

Nobody cares anymore because once they get past their rookie contract they are set for generations. It’s becoming a problem in a lot of sports now. There was always money in top level pro sports but now it is insane. They get 100 million, hire an investment management team, become a “brand” and that is it. Why compete hard when you have it made? At least in the old days, they got a couple of million a year blew most of it in Vegas and would play hard for their next contract.
