OKC decides to use Alex Caruso as the secret ingredient to shut down Jokic and it worked. 4 inches shorter and a 100 pounds lighter that had to ride the G-League train for 4 years before getting a shot. this is a Lebron vs. Jason Terry level of legacy breaking loss. I don't think a top 10 in NBA history could get shut down by Caruso...let's be honest fami.

Murray lost a step and can no longer create separation off the dribble. That combined with the NBA allowing more contact has made him drastically overpaid. He's still a good player but he's nowhere near a max contract guy.

Porter has been an insane disappointment. I have never seen a guy so consistently disappear in big games. I know he was hurt badly this postseason but it happens every year. I thought winning a championship would help him mature but it simply hasn't. On paper he's everything you want -- pure shooter, good rebounder, incredible positional size. But he's the dumbest, softest guy in the league.

But beyond that I couldn't imagine the next two offseasons being such a disaster after Booth's first offseason was so insanely good. His first year he brought in KCP, Bruce Brown, Ish Smith, DeAndre Jordan, Reggie Jackson, Christian Braun, Peyton Watson, and Collin Gillespie.

And then every move he made subsequently for the next two years blew up in his face like when Bugs Bunny ties Elmer Fudd's shotgun in a knot.

It's almost like winning titles is a hard thing to do. There's a reason Jordan has so many people calling him great and why LeBron was clowned so hard for his "not 5, not 6, not 7" stunt.

I agree. Jordan's Bulls were the only one in the last 30 years that was worth a shit. Best to just consider that the last good one in the NBA and move on.

Think the Knicks became a contender with the return of their 90s center. Defense moved from meh to good against the defending champion.

Yup, you're right. I meant the "Finals" finals, not conference. Brain got it's wires crossed with my fingers.

While I like that the new CBA basically ends the superteam bullshit of the 2010s (as once you've maxed out two guys, you severely limit your options to make your team better), it doesn't solve the real problem: owners/GMs giving out way too much money to second bananas and unproven guys. So many of these otherwise contending teams that find themselves up shit's creek now put themselves there by grossly overpaying has-beens and never-was-es.

Obviously a lot of that is cuz every agent is trying to get their guy as much money as humanly possible which is totally understandable but you can't put together a balanced team when you're paying your 2nd best guy like the best guy, a 3rd option like a 2nd, etc. You just end up with situations like the Bucks, the Nuggets and the Celtics who are going to have to blow up their teams because they overpaid middling talent and have little opportunity to trade them for anything worthwhile (and, in some cases, can't trade them at all because of the second apron rules).

Unless you're the Lakers, of course. Then you have GMs falling over themselves trying to gift you generational players for peanuts.
