Just an update in case anyone reads this in the future. I replaced the old Barrel Jack with a fresh new one, but that did nothing at all to improve the problem. Good news is at least it is exactly the same and not worse. Also for what its worth, I removed the LED under the reset switch, no effect.

Run a ground wire from the main PCB and solder it on top of the crystal on the daughter board.

It’s an interesting issue. Based on the work that you did and the improvements - it would be possible to debug which voltages have changed using an oscilloscope to understand which chip / circuit is now getting a better voltage which improves the picture - but that is a lot of work if that were ever done it could be determined exactly what this problem is. If I ever see it I will do this but all 3 of my AES are 9v AeS 5/6 and don’t have this problem. I should get a 5v

I am in a similar boat. I mainly have problems with some aftermarket games. Ranging from mild(vengeance hunters few vertical gaps in same gfx) to a big pain(Kraut Buster needs a cold boot no power connect, good until rebooted. Then I need to unplug for about 10min and try again)
If I get any glitches on 161-1 cart I would not bother as the specs are probably ghetto no surprise.

Was recommended to replace the power jack.
I feel ill have the same result as you. As based on my symptoms Kraut Buster is the oddest...
