This bit is interesting:

"Next to the RGB of course is the HDMI connector, which will obviously be used by the majority of people and will give that crisp 1080p 60Hz display that people expect nowadays." Bruno adds that it can also output 59.6Hz like an original AES if your TV can cater for it.

So basically there is a 60hz/59.6hz toggle switch. Good stuff.
Pro players gonna notice that 0.4hz difference

They might, but AES systems already vary between consoles that have a 24MHz crystal versus a 24.16MHz crystal, which results in a 59.60 Hz vs 59.94 Hz refresh and already no one seems to care.

IIRC AES and MVS boards run at different speeds.
MVS systems all have the 24MHz crystal. The early AES consoles also have the same 24MHz as the MVS, but they later updated it to 24.16 with a sub PCB and later board revisions.

Dat .16 of 1 million hertz though
It resulted in a difference of 59.60 Hz vs 59.94 Hz horizontal screen refresh on NTSC systems, which did mean the AES was more compatible with various TV's. I've also noticed 59.94 is much cleaner on modern screens with most upscalers (like your RT4K).

Why would they be disappointed? not disagreeing just not following. Seems like they would be happy with whatever gets put out for AES+ bc they obviously weren't hardcore enough to jump in before now
If you happen to be Genesis Knight from the Sega 16 forums, you might remember back when Beggar Prince first came out for the Genesis. It was pretty cool to get a new game at a time when that wasn't yet common, but you may recall there was a lot of bellyaching about how the cases, carts, etc weren't really that close to the original Sega carts and had more in common with Aliexpress bootlegs, likely using the same production facilities. I fully expect something like that to happen here.

Someone will complain that the plastics aren't the same, the translucency or texture of the case isn't the same, the cart is lighter than the originals, something like that. Me, I'm happy to get a Garou cart for $90. And of course some corksniffers will be "well they aren't real Neo Geo carts" regardless.

And this is all assuming there isn't some minor hardware flaw. And there always is.

Ha yes that's me. (I don't remember a GoosehanX, did you go by another name there?!)

And you're right, I remember that - and I get the point now. r/neogeo already worked up over ROM types, etc. They were hoping this would be a cheap entry into 100% equivalence with the thing they wanted forever. "Full member of the club" etc.

It's GohanX, I fell victim to some funstering :keke: I was active on Sega16 way back when, but I wouldn't be surprised if you don't remember. That was what, 20 years ago?

They're already doing that months before release, even in this thread someone pointed out the plastic on the system/cart was not like the originals in the Plaion Q&A video. :keke:
The amount of unreasonable butthurt this will generate on release will be enough to power a small country for a week.

there will be youtube thumbnails depicting the full range of human facial expressions--delight, surprise, disappointment, disgust, anger, indifference, etc.

the neo geo logo itself has youtuber reaction faces in it:

The Retro Gamer interview already confirmed the carts have one chip per PCB and will be very distinguishable from the originals.
