There's also another what if scenario that came to my mind: licensing unreleased Neo Geo games like Hebereke Pair Pair Wars, or even homebrew games like those by NGDEV. How possible is that scenario?

It happened on Atari+. In fact Atari wound up hiring one of the top homebrew developers for that purpose.

One thing for sure - an increase of AES owners and general enthusiasm for physical systems and carts can only increase the chances of seeing new releases as well as more official re-releases.

if it's a worthwhile game and doesnt come with insane requirements from the goobdevs I don't see why not. No ng:dev because I don't see a third party wanting to bother with their custom cart hardware they themselves can't produce fast enough

If they're going to re-release the AES, they could use a faster clock speed 68000 for it, to avoid the slowdown that some games have (shooters, Metal Slug 2, Shock Troopers 2, etc).

Can you set it run in 4:3 on a widescreen TV (with black bars), or does your TV have to have that option?

If it's so similar to the original AES, and it plays original AES carts, it might affect the value of the original system & carts.

The Achilles heel of it might be that some people don't want to have an AES cart for each the 50 or 100 games they might want to play. Maybe they could have multi-carts for the less popular/ more obscure games. Or a multi-cart for the whole Samurai Shodown series, something like that.

From the press release:

"On-screen BIOS and DIP Switches located on the bottom of the console allow for instant switching of territory language selection, overclocking the hardware or choosing different display modes"

I'm torn between Ultimate Edition or the $40K Neostore Arcade! personal collection, can some of you Bigtymers tell me what to do?

Holy shit, i haven't seen this much excitement for any SNK product in a long ass time. But i do agree with NeoSeeD on this aspect: we need to see how first impressions of the recreated hardware are. One thing is seeing an opinion from a journalist. Another thing entirely is an opinion from anybody who has played Neo Geo for ther whole life.

Also, why the fuck Plaion and SNK are not making a push to market the console in Latin American regions? Considering how popular Neo Geo games are in the region, this seems like a huge loss of potential sales for enthusiasts interested.

With unibios 4 being free of use, they'd better not sleep on that and create some shitty ass interface themselves. Also worried about the display selector button. But fuck it, ordered one. If it stinks I'll sell it to Rot if he still alive
